Should Fox news be shut down?(Or atleast remade)?

Following this little interesting tidbit, what are everyone's views on Fox news? They've been reporting obviously over the top media for almost the entirety of Obama's presidency, with no signs of stopping and each new claim becoming more and more ridiculous.

By all means there should be both a conservative and liberal news source, atleast that way you can find a somewhat logical middle. But when stuff such as this is being put on, scaring people half to death (you'd be surprised how many people think Obama is actually going to turn the country socialist) it comes to a point where someone needs to say, woah, stop.

Thoughts?

Also, please don't reply saying "Just read an independent news source", I do that as well, but the majority of America does not and that's the point.

Glenn Beck is guilty of slander and hate speech on a regular basis. But then, so is most of Fox News. Where do they get their talking points? Straight from the top, Murdoch himself. While I think Fox is a vile bunch, without morals or sensibility, I don't think it should be taken off the air. They just need to replace "news" with "what we want you to think is news but is really just propagandized conjecture." This is not the first case of Beck practically encouraging violence. Remember that crazy guy in Pittsburgh who killed a bunch of cops because he thought that Obama was going to take away his guns? Yeah, he watched Beck religiously. Bottom line, Beck is irresponsible, disingenuous, insincere, intellectually dishonest, and ultimately a horrible human being.

EDIT: I can't believe that no one even knows what liberalism is anyway. It is a political philosophy focused on equality, liberty, and freedom. So how could the Nazis possibly be associated with such a philosophy?

News media only has power because people let them, If you believe everything some ass hat says on TV well that is just SAD .

Even sadder in my opinion is that most people think the president is all powerful and can take away our right's on a whim. Rolling Eyes

Is FOX TV the only source of political news in the U.S.? or is the problem that all the TV news stations are conservative oriented?

fox news is pretty much the only major network new source thats not liberally biased..

yea but sure, why dont we shit on the constitution and censor them, because censorship is such a great idea... at that point where would the censorship or modification stop? an attack on your enemies liberty is an equal attack on your own liberty, dont be so quick to give them up... who is actually worse here? fox news, or those that would push for fox news to be censored? how many people have fought, rallied, protested, and died for equal rights among the united states citizens?

Reminds me of the good old dark ages.

This generation's crucifixions and witch burnings is mass propaganda. Ignorance is truly bliss, ain't it though? I guess it's one way to focus your anger and stupidity. Unfortunate that we have a bipartisan system with a single man at the top, because that makes it so much easier for stupid people to be herded to the most obvious conclusions, when some simple analysis would reveal the shocking inconsistencies and ironies.

The likes of Fox News makes people consider Americans in a dismissive manner. But at this point it's hard to imagine an American public without them.

First of all, I would like to point out that I'm not an American, so correct me if I'm wrong about a thing or two.

As far as I know, television is a democratic system and so are its programmes. It works the same as any other company, if people buy your product, you can survive or even grow and if not, you'll go bankrupt. When the government, at least I presume everybody in this forum would think the government has the job to do these sort of things, would decide that fox news, or any other channel should be taken out of the air, you're talking about nationwide censorship. They had the same thing in Nazi-Germany.

Furthermore, what would be the use of taking a channel, which clearly represents a set of ideas for a lot of people, out of the air if you really want to alter the viewer's ideas. Such a "precaution" would increase the fears and ideas of these people, because indeed then there is a 'lefty' force, which is preventing them from seeing what they want to see. People have a mind of their own and that is basically what democracy is based upon.

I totally do not agree with the content which is blurted out on Fox news. In America blasphomy is often regarded as a sin, but I think demonising an actual person is way worse.

faux news:: if you don't like it, then stop watching it - and encourage others to follow suite - else ratings will keep it popular enough to continue with it's farce

Personally Im not going to be happy untill that racist, bigoted hippocrite Bill O'Reilly is sacked. The guy is a first class tosser and I hope a rottweiller bites his nut sack off!!
