** This is an OLD post for an old system. The meaning of the choices are still relevant so I'm keeping this post as reference. Refer to the FAQ for the most updated info on the current system using web forms, which is much more convenient than IRC commands that only works when the bot in on the same network as you are, as described in this post. **

These CTCP commands control your fserve or channel's level of participation in the isoHunt project. READ THIS if you are a channel op or a fserve owner on IRC.

You have to be an op on the channel to use the channel commands, and in order to verify your op status these commands only works when the indexer is on your channel. The commands that act on fserves can be used if you are the owner of the fserves, and when the indexer is on your network.

You can script an ON JOIN event for the indexer's nick (IH-beta), so you can send your /ctcp command automatically when the indexer comes into your channel. I will post sample mIRC scripts soon for this.

The general opt-out scheme of this system is inspired by the Web's Robot Exclusion Protocol .

This system and the indexer is still under testing, so if anything behaves differently, tell me what it did so I can fix it.

All channel / fserve removal requests MUST be done over IRC for validation and automation. Any requests in forum will NOT be accepted from now on, and will be deleted.

For Fserve owners:

The following CTCP commands (enclosed in CODE blocks) are to be typed on IRC, when the indexer (current nick: IH-beta) comes on your network.

1. Uncensor your fserve triggers, type:
Code:
/ctcp IH-beta IH fserve <trig uncensor>

AND/OR

put "<trig uncensor>" in your fserve ad to channel

This displays your fserve triggers in search results unhidden. By default, all triggers are censored. Do a file search on this site to see what I mean.

Pick this if you want to let people go directly into your fserve from file search results on this site.

2. Censor your fserve triggers, type:
Code:
/ctcp IH-beta IH fserve <trig censor>

AND/OR

put "<trig censor>" in your fserve ad to channel

This replaces your fserve triggers in search results, with the phrase *censored*. This is the default if you do not make your choice.

Pick this if you would like to hide your identity in isoHunt's search results (ie. not giving away your nick / fserve trigger), but don't mind listing your files as part of the channel you serve in. People can go directly into your channel, but won't be able to go directly into your fserve to get files they want, without some digging around the channel.

3. Complete Opt-out of isoHunt, type:
Code:
/ctcp IH-beta IH fserve <bot noindex>

This deletes all files already indexed from your fserves, and puts your fserves on the indexer's ban list so it won't index your files again.

Pick this if you don't want anyone to find files you offer from your fserves, not even from which channel the files may be found (option 2).

For channel operators:

The following CTCP commands (enclosed in CODE blocks) are to be typed on IRC, ONLY when the indexer (current nick: IH-beta) comes on your channel where you are an op in. If not, your command will be ignored.

Your choice will be the global default for your channel. Fserve owners on your channel can override your choice with theirs.

Replace #CHAN in the CTCP commands with your channel name.

1. Uncensor all your channel's fserve triggers, type:
Code:
/ctcp IH-beta IH #CHAN <trig uncensor>

This displays fserve triggers from your channel in search results, without being replaced with *censored*. By default, all triggers are censored. Do a file search on this site to see what I mean.

Pick this if you want to let people go directly into fserves on your channel, from file search results on this site.

2. Censor all your channel's fserve triggers, type:
Code:
/ctcp IH-beta IH #CHAN <trig censor>

This replaces fserve triggers from your channel in search results, with the phrase *censored*. This is the default if you do not make your choice.

Pick this if you would like to hide the identity of fserve owners on your channel in isoHunt's search results, but don't mind listing files from your channel. People can go directly into your channel, but can't go directly into fserves to get files, without some digging around your channel.

3. Complete Opt-out of isoHunt, type:
Code:
/ctcp IH-beta IH #CHAN <bot noindex>

AND/OR

put "<bot noindex>" in your channel's topic

This deletes all files already indexed from fserves on your channel, and puts your channel on the indexer's ban list so it won't visit your channel again.

Pick this if you don't want anyone to find files from your channel.

Note: If you put the "<bot noindex>" tag in your channel's topic, it will only prevent the indexer from going into your channel. Files ALREADY INDEXED from your channel are NOT immediately deleted from the isoHunt database by putting on this tag in channel topic / fserve ad.

What happens is when the spider come into your channel and see the tag in the topic, it will simply leave the channel w/o doing anything. As such, files / servers from the channel is not updated / further indexed, and files already indexed from the channel will "fade" out of the database in 14 days.
