What you're doing is so praiseworthy. We cannot thank you enough for not backing down from these ridiculous allegations from our government. I am embarrassed to be a citizen of such a country that stubbornly refuses to accept our new rights since the advent of the Internet.

However I don't intend to let you have all the fun, - I will do everything in my power to rectify this oppression.

You are not alone.

I've been using ISOhunt for years and while change is sad, it is good that you are preparing to stay on top.

Some day in the near future I hope all the dinosaurs will be weeded out of the government and music/film industry.

Hey, how about a nice database replication and query API?
You're a search engine, right?

Make it easy for external sites to provide a replica/facsimile of the current full isoHunt UI. Just provide all the raw information to anyone who asks. You already do that, albeit in a human-parsable form, not a machine-parsable one. Can't really blame Google for any mashups using their APIs, now can you?

If this is just about your own public-facing site; that would be the best way to proceed, benefit the community at large, and no longer contains any red flags for inducement.

You are talking about our JSON api: http://isohunt.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=150656 which isoHunt Lite uses.

I agree with EldestFleTch I spend a good deal more time in the forums than actually searching the torrents. I checked out the lite. An definitely still a workable search engine, but like lite beer, artificial sweeteners, an pinners. I prefer the full bodied texture we have here now. I hope that the forums stay, even if they have to be detached in some way from the torrent searching aspect, as the knowledge here is priceless. As for the anti American sluff, well shiat i cant blame ya's. I moved to New Mexico thinking this was one of the last wild west places. wronge i got a ticket the other day for playing my crapy factory radio to loud an then was told if i get 2 more tickets the city will seize my car. Land of the free? Land of entrapment an shut the hell up. Sorry got on a tangent.I wish the best for Isohunt an will be sending sum funds soon as I get my rent paid. keep up the good fight.

i agrees

i don't like isohunt/lite
i did some preliminary searches and compared the results to those on IH
results=same when sorted by isoHunt rank and no time limit,
but no comments, nor rating still makes those results a crap shoot
it will be a sad day if US IH members must resort to IH/lite
besides the comments and forums are indispensable(ty spell check)
i spend more time in IH forums than anywhere else online

i agree i dont like isohunt lite i have used isohunt for many years and have recomended it to many other people for torrents
i know there is alot of torernt sites but this is one of the only only ones that is watched and has clean torrents and not full of viruses i know there is some out there but not as much as the rest
we should have a place where we can leave commnets and so on
keep up the fight guys

File sharing is not illegal in any country. If a judge rules that it is, or that a filesharing website or software is, he/she is on dangerous ground.

It is not illegal to buy a DVD and lend it to your friends. It is not illegal to make backup or copies of purchased copyright material, I refer to iTunes that backs up all your software and MP3s as well as Nero and other software.

Sharing your backups with "friends" therefore would also not be illegal, lending the backup could be seen as a way of safeguarding the original.

What would be construded as illegal is if you or two of your "friends" were watching the same movie or using the same bit of software at the same time as to do this would require two licenses. THIS IS ILLEGAL

Burden of proof should therefore lie with the Plaintiff to proove that two copies have been used or viewed at the same time, which we all know is impossible.

If courts continue to rule as they are, the movie and music industry would be able to prosecute you for lending the music/video or even letting a friend view or listen to them.

Absolutely correct ... as a 'silver surfer' I - in common with other 'oldies' download to view what we are not able to go out and see in the multiplexes. It's that, or wait months to see the item on television. It is a social benefit that Isohunt, god bless them and the torrent providers are generous enough to allow. In a money-grabbing world it is amazing how the ordinary human being will take time (and pay for it) to put up episodes for the rest of us to enjoy. Fraternity that's what it is - and worldwide. We witness almost daily, bodies returning from areas of conflict where regimes have no fraternity with the rest of the world. It is proven in many areas that downloading does NOT harm income from those that go to the film theaters or buy 'kosher' copies for their own libraries. Was it Dustin Hoffman who was said to back downloading? "Go do it - the industry has been screwing the public for years" I paraphrase and retract this if my memory is inaccurate.
I've paid in - here and there to Isohunt and others. If you are obliged to shut up shop then that's a great pity - know that you are appreciated.

Use google to create a custom search, host it on the search bar, and then the little girlies don't have what to sue about.
Cheers.

I have a funny feeling your lieyer is selling you up the river. If you had a summary judgment against you , Your side did not dispute even a single solitary issue of fact. Not good.

Again in agreement. The state of things is really sad. It's one of the motivating forces making me want to go into intellectual property law (despite my inherent distaste for lawyers). US Civil liberties in general seem to be on a downward spiral of death while large lobbying blocks flourish. Something like this despite Google and other large corps doing the same thing isn't surprising. Makes me sad to see fellow citizens give into fear, greed and political "bovine fecal mater". Honestly, we can't even seem to agree that everyone is entitled to a free minimum health care system just by nature of being a fellow human being. In that light, I really don't see a positive outcome to be likely, as this seems to rank lower in the social / moral scheme of things (at least in my opinion--not that this isn't a real tragedy, nor that isohunt shouldn't have more support).

Even so, best of luck to the fight. I've loved isohunt while it has lasted and will continue to use it as long as it lasts.

Just wondering here, not sure if it's been mentioned, but aren't you guys 100% based in Canada now? As long as this doesn't affect Canada... Oh well, we'll just get back at them tomorrow in Vancouver.
