the lite version isn't that bad, it's even faster than the 'old' torrent search. also, I like the idea of the text that comes up in the same way google does.

BUT it's a whole lot less organized, and it's too bad that we now have to search for comments instead of the comment page we have for each torrent here on isohunt.

also I'd like to say for putting so much time and effort in Isohunt to keep the p2p network alive Wink

I miss being able to see a rough file list of what was in each torrent. Sometimes torrents can have cryptic names and you never can be sure if you are downloading the right thing or not, even if it came up on search.
Doesn't your client show you the files contained in the torrent when you first open it?

And why don't you just use a proxy to get around the block.

Indeed, it has a banner with IIS7 (Internet Information services 7), that re-directs to iis.net, which is supposedly a Microsoft site.
However http://www.anonymous-browsing.info/ still works. Enjoy:)

Ok I'll help the amateurs.

I got 213.229.77.58:8080 and 119.70.40.101:8080 from here . The first one is faster but they both work. I use Firefox and installed FoxyProxy . Then I added the aforementioned proxies to it and added a URL pattern of: http://isohunt.com/* . That way the proxy is only used when you go to that URL.

Now its as if the block never happened. I only have one of the proxies enabled at a time, but I'm sure you can have them both enabled and give one priority somehow in case the other doesn't work. In fact I think you do that just by their order in the list.

I've been a long time isohunt user (multi-year I would say) and I registered specifically because I wanted to comment on the new isohunt-lite design. I own a webdesign & development company so perhaps my input might be of value.

Design-wise, I think the version you had a few weeks ago was better. The version I see now is more cluttered, and in general, that's a bad thing. Looks like you're falling into this trap: http://theoatmeal.com/comics/design_hell

My suggestions:
a. Drop the HASH-code from the main listing. Just show it in the 'more' link.
b. Find a way to *nicely* represent all the metadata you're including (the size, files, date & popularity line). Remove the boxes.
c. I would love to have a link, somewhere, to inspect which files are in the package I'm downloading
d. If you insist on keeping the HASH-code there, then just drop the "(find comments & more on this torrent)" part. Instead, make the hash itself clickable. As it is now, for me, it's just confusing, as it doesn't really give me comments & more, but just a google search. Linking the HASH-code and dropping the text will remove that false expectation, but still provide the same functionality for those that really want it. And besides, you're just describing what clicking a link will do. Most people know that anyways.
e. The most important piece of metadata of all the metadata is hidden in the last line. Can you find it? It's the "+12 (thumbs up)" data. This is not available for every torrent, but if you have it, I would suggest putting it in a really prominent place.

Anyway, after typing all this text I decided to do a quick mockup so you could see what I mean. Here it is:

I think this cleans up the clutter while highlighting the important information and keeping all the functionality. Hope this helps.

perhaps you don't understand the relevance of the hash.it is unique to the specific file and can be used to find comments elsewhere on that file as this is an indexing site the vast majority of what you'll find is on other sites thus the likelyhood of there being comments and the ability to see release pages on those sites which give relevant info comments, audio tracks,etc..i use the hash for just about everything i check.

@bweh_registration: Shouldn't "Web 2.0" be in the same category as "pop" and "edgy"?LOL

I think the hash is good where it is. Personally, I think there is only 1 thing more important than the hash and that's the file name. The hash is extremely important to those who search new torrents on Isohunt and are first to comment when they are indexed here.

I do prefer the layout that bweh_registration showed in his link (layout) though. It does look neat and clean, I just prefer the hash on the first page.

didn't say he was but for me next to the title it's the most important thing and he is asking for a way/link to check the files and the hash check allows that as i explained.so not sure why you trolled my comment.

Doesn't trolling mean I spend hours reading through the forums and making useless replies? I only come here when I get an E-Mail reply notification. I think your complaining about an extra mouse click. Besides, just use a proxy like me and you can use the original site and not have to worry about this.

And besides besides, what about my suggestion to make Lite exactly like the original except for removing whatever is required to be removed. I still have no idea why the design of Lite is different when the design had nothing to do with the lawsuit.

I do like that design bweh_registration . Nice work. I suppose an exception could be made for the hash. A lot of people do need it.
