Yer I'm dealing with it, feel like a right (insert expletive here), but hey would you?
It was also my wife brother which has made it harder for me, but my wife is so forgiving and understands how much Danial McKiernan Meant to me!

Another reason I have put this up is hoping it will affect some about the dangers of drink driving I know not many listen, as I didn't and it has taken this to make me realize Alcohol is shit full stop, I now consider it to be the worst drug in the world! ha can expect that though!

Might be going to jail also :S I am not concerned about me, just my wife and 2 children, who also have to suffer not having me here for them because of my stupidity!

It is sad to see friends and loved ones go. What ever you do Mr Pink, please do not try to hold your emotions in on this. From experience when my grandma and mother past, I held it in... Big mistake on my part. I am grieving now when I should of mourned then.

As pacino23 said, it is great that you are still here. Count your blessings and make the most out of life while you still can. I do not know if you are religious or not but I am Catholic... To me it seems like God has given you a second chance. Take it and try to right the wrongs that you have done before (if any.)

Wink The scary thing for me is that i have had in the past maybe one or two "extra" pints and drove home with mates in the car and the stereo on loud and that could have so easily happened to me. Crying or Very sad

Much respect for being so open mate, and yeah you have been missed! Wink

I've been sat here trying to formulate a constructive answer but, because of one drunk driver I have no parents and I have had various screws and bolts holding me together since the age of 19-I despise drunk drivers.

Hang in there Mr Pink . Remember how all the bad things that happened now seem manageable, if still as bad. In time, this too will pass. You just gotto ride the wave and not go under. But you already know this.

I agree, I have no sympathy for drunk drivers whatsoever. If they died because of their own stupidity, so be it. They deserve it.

Its usually them who survive, and others who have to suffer the grief of their actions.

RIP to drunk driver victims, not to the drunken bastards who caused it.

this thread is not about ripping Mr Pink because of what he did... the fact is he did it and he is living and dealing with the consequences of his actions

he is blessed to have a family who can forgive what he has done and doing that is harder... than giving up and tossing what they have left away.. he is taking action so that it will never happen again

Mr Pink is not a bad person... he just made a bad choice and is dealing with it... and for the users coming in here and generalizing him with all drunk drivers is not fair.. many drunk drivers are habitual offenders and do not rectify or recognize they have a problem or even care what they did...

i am not defending his actions or any other drunk driver for that matter.. there has been lots of propaganda of the consequences of drunk drivers actions... what happens when you get caught and so on.. yet people choose to ignore it

the fact is that it happened and as unfortunate as it is he has come here to express what he is dealing with as the person who caused it... he does not need to be flamed, ridiculed, or chastised

Nice post schlomo.

We all have made choices in our life that we wish we could take back. We all err because we are all human. I may have never been in an accident but I have made bad decisions in the past that have hurt other people and so has everyone. On one level or another, none of us have place to point fingers because of a choice someone has made.

Mr Pink, I know you are taking this time in your life to back up and take proper perspective at some of the choices you have made and learning to deal with them. You have had a rough go that not all on here know about. Just want you to know that this to will help you grow and be a better person.

My heart goes out to you, your family, and the families of all people that were involved. I hope you all can find some meaning and peace in the tragedy that has happened and change your lives and the lives around you for the better because of it.

Living life is all about making choices and dealing with the consequences. That and not making the same mistake twice.

No, I hear that, but with it being opened up by his initial post, I think its only fair we have the right to air our views. That is just the way I feel about drunk drivers. They are the lucky ones who survive... their punishment for survival is the guilt imo.

How would one feel if it was HIS family who were mowed down by a drunk driver? Would he feel the same, or expect the same empathy from others? I think not.

Though, I did not mention him in name, I generalised ALL drunken drivers who cause fatalities. I despise anyone who takes that risk without thought for others - just because they are not sane enough to realise they are drunk, and should get a taxi.

Also, I found the section about his 'past sexual abuse' history a bit of a sympathy vote to gain credence, trying to give us a reason to feel for him... awww, its ok - drunken driver has killed someone, but he was abused. All is forgiven.

Not for me. Not for many millions of others I would assume too.

Yes, the abuse is nasty, but still not an excuse for sympathy in regards to a whole different episode of negativity in his life.

Just let it be known, I am not flaming, just giving an open and honest opinion, one which I am sure the OP wants. If not, then why open such a thread?

Sorry, but just because someone has the balls to post about a speckled history, does not warrant forgiveness from all in my eyes. Respect to him for sharing it, and dealing with it, but there would be no forgiveness from me.

All I do is think "What if it was my family who had been killed".

I also think about the other side "What if the drunken driver was my son/daughter" - same result, no empathy, they took that decision to drive, and have to live with all of the associated guilt that comes with it, if they survive.

Now, I know people have had differences with me because of my honesty, blunty or otherwise, but hey, thats what a forum is about right? Opinions of people from different walks of life, with different views on various subjects.

Good bad or ugly, opinions are there to be respected, debated and overall - the views of THAT singular person writing them.

I mean, I would like to know about the family of the deceased, how are they treating you Mr Pink? How about the community? What about the law? What punishment did you receive?

Ok, this is a serious issue, which does need discussion, but due to language being used, I will be moving this to debate section.
