i see them as a religion and dangerous cult, all inspired by poor science fiction.

The Kool-aid is their so called direct link to God, i remember their was one cult that even went as far as having $5 in their front pocket

The difference between a religion and a cult, is very little. The intensity of the flavor is all that is really different.
Both can be dangerously invasive, then if you leave wackyness, both will try the minimum of a guilt trip on you to get you to return to the fold.
Scientology got kicked our of France. Same should happen in Australia. Evil or Very Mad
Look what happened to John Travolta's son, That was a little too far. (no medication, cause they dont believe in mental disorders)

Im not bothered what people choose to believe although Scientology does seem to be the choice for celebrities who just have to be different.
What makes me laugh though is when other religions decide to have a go on the basis of it been preposterous.
I'd say aliens is more likely than a benevolent zombie coming to save our souls but thats just my opinion.

As long as you use your beliefs to become a better person then I don't care what they are.

Thats occurred to me as well Laughing Scientologists just try to keep the preposterous stuff secret whereas the more common religion dont. The Internet kinda killed that for them though Wink

OK so Scientology was created by L. Ron Hubbard who just happened to be a science fiction writer. A man who set up a religion. If that makes Scientology a cult, does that then not make all religions a cult? The Church of England was created by Henry 8th because he disagreed with the Catholic church's view on divorce, Joseph Smith created the Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (the true Mormon church apparently- not to be confused with the polygamist breakaway faction) because he didn't like the way other faiths were run. The point we should all remember is all religion is man-made. It basically comes out of man's despair of being alone in the universe and man's inability to cope with the idea there is no life after death. I haven't heard any news about anyone suffering from being a member of the Scientology faith, and in my opinion it is not a cult if it looks after it's members. I'd be more inclined to look into the Jehovah's Witnesses as they allow (even encourage) their members to refuse blood transfusions, and put it down to purity, implying that someone else's blood is impure! Never mind that allowing yourself to die if ya can otherwise be saved is akin to suicide

You need to look harder i guess, Scientology rips familys apart, scientology killed Lisa McPherson, and she suffered a great deal before her death due to the views of scientology. Many many people have suffered at the hands of scientologists. Same goes for all religions, and i would argue they are all cults, seems the difference between cult/religion is just acceptance. But the cult of christianity is rather benign compared to scientology, at least today. Historically christians have murdered alot more people then scientologists. Did you know if you were a scientologist, and your parents disapproved of scientology, you would be forbidden to speak to them? And if your parents went public scientologists would launch a smear campaign on them and attempt to ruin their lives? They have a policy, it's called disconnection.

If you ask me, I would say all organized religions are cults.

With respect to whether or not Scientology harms it's followers, I would say ask John Travolta's son, Jett.....oh, that's right he's dead from a seizure because his parents were not allowed to recognize his autism and seizure disorder and took him off his meds, trying to dispute that his problems were caused by "environmental toxins". Their (the Church of Scientology) position is that psychiatric diagnoses are fake ailments invented by Nazi psychiatrists - if that isn't whacky, I don't know what is Rolling Eyes

Im glad that he at least has to put up with his own conscience, the law would have been more fair. Most parent would get slammed and convicted for neglect, he got sympathy cards. Evil or Very Mad

dude, i don't care if you aren't christian at all, scientology doesn't come close to any logic. if you can take for granted miracles and God, Christianity makes good sense. scientology just doesn't compute, even given miracles and xenu. it doesn't have any historical grounding, just some jackass figured out how to get rich off of dumb people.

Scientology is more than a cult, it is the new mafia hiding in sheeps clothing. they destroy people's lives, kill people, extort money, intimidate. they have all the characteristics of the mafia, but worse in that they hide behind protection granted to religion in most countries. I think scientology should be considered an illegal organization and its leaders thrown in prison. of course, that will never happen. it would be a huge win for everyone if our american government considered it a non-religion like in Germany.

How does Christianity makes sense. It makes no sense at all. Just watch George Carlin go on about it. Not only is it hilarious but he's right.
Christianity teaches that the world is separate from God, yet God is an all powerful, infinite and eternal being. If God is infinite then how can anything be separate from God?

Christianity with its roots in Catholicism is the most corrupt Religion there has ever been. It started out corrupt and has the most horrendous history of killing and torture, mass baby graves found around monasteries, homo-pedophilia, etc. Anyone who disagrees obviously doesn't know their history. Twisted Evil

What does that have to do with scientology? Though i agree with Carlin, there is no god. Xenu makes more sense than a god, alot more sense.
