Meaby another usefull part to add to this thread:
Programs that help you adjust the subtitles to the specific file you are watching.
You can adjust them directly from VLC, but these adjustments are just temporary and not permanent, so I love to use these tools for when I ever want to watch the same movie again. I also don't like when I have to adjust the subs in the middle of the movie because they suddenly aren't synchronized anymore.
Here are some tools I know of, and I think subtitle workshop is the best from personal experience:
Subtitle Workshop
Subsync v0.2.15
(couldn't find the official page)
TimeAdjuster v3.1
(official page (hopefully temporary) down)
I hope this will help some ppl that didn't know of these tools yet.
Happy adjusting

Subtitle workshop is brilliant.
Thanks for the post |

Hello,
Would anyone have any idea how to make the subtitles work, I've tried several solutions without success, I"m using Windows media player got .sub included in my dowload.
Any help would be appreciated.

The .sub file must have the same name as the movie file. Both files must be in the same folder. Finally you must enable subtitles in WMP.
Under the Play menu, goto Subtitles and Captions -> On If Available..
or you can use VLC. This is the VLC Guide: http://isohunt.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=1230985 |

www.subscene.com
this is a wonderful site with lots of languages and many options to download and use a subtitle... enjoy |
Thanks for the tip, found them there; thing is I did several wide searches in Google and never found them in English.
Now with the subtitles, I can figure out that the film volume really is low.
Thanks |

Just found another site for
dutch subs
. One thing though: you need to register (free) to be able to download subs. But that's just a minor thingy, specially when you are looking for subs for old movies.

Hi, thanks for adding them. videometre.com is changed. I don't see any subtitles now. The others are fine. |
