Champions Online
(Superhero MMORPG)

I'm thinking of peeking into it.

Is it worth it? Who played before?

Comments please ...

ThanX,

I played it for about 10 minutes and logged out.

I preferreed City of Heroes.

You could try DC Online if you dont like Champions, but it has a monthly sub.

I played 3 hours yesterday.

Was kinda fun. What is the difference between CoH * and CO?

DCUO is to expensive and fully loaded with bugs.
I ain't paying 50$ for a game and 15$ monthly fee to be a beta tester!
Fukc dat Sony a$$ munchies ... Evil or Very Mad

edit:
On * City of Heroes you have to pay a monthly fee (13$) too

I didnt like Champions much, I thought the controls were a bit unresponsive and I got bored quite quickly. Still, Its F2P so there it doesn't cost anything unless you want it too.

Yeah, it the controls are not as smooth as a FirstPersonShooter, BUT with the right hardware (I got "new" one Very Happy ) it is quite fast.
I play for 3-4 days now and it is really funny and looks really like Comic.

I think it (Champions) is the same developer team as City of Heroes/Villians/Rogues ...

This (CO, or the RE-release) should be the Marvel MMORPG, but Stan and friends backed out with still strong WoW and DCUO right around the corner.

Too bad, I wanna fight next to IronMan or Spidey or Cap Amrica, yeah

While you could play Bratz online games practically everywhere, you get the best possible experience from a dedicated Bratz game.

Bratz (video game)

In the game, the player must dance through each level using platform-specific controls. Each completed level unlocks new fashions, dance moves to use in the "freestyle" mode, and the next level.

Sounds like a good game for sheep herders ^^

I tried it on tuesday after the patch update, I couldnt get past the cartooney graphics after playing Rift beta the day before.

BTW, Rift Open Beta starts tuesday 15th, so anyone can give it a shot, if they like it, it will run for a week.

http://www.toasted spam/en/news/listings/02072011_open_beta.php

Rift is a MMO, kinda like Warcraft, it is a subscription game too, if that is a problem.

Its got the usual mix of fantasy races, its main trick is that "rifts" open periodically and in random areas, where evil forces invade the world and you have to beat them back, main gameplay is questing PvE and PVP, server dependant of course.

I like what I played so far, each class (Rogue/Mage/Cleric/Warrior etc), has sub classes of which you can combine three, to really customise your character according to your playstyle eg.

A Rogue could be a mix of three classes:

Saboteur (sticks bombs on an enemy and then detonate them)

Ranger (usual bow and arrow guy, but with a pet that will hold the enemies aggro, while you plant sticky bonbs Smile).

Assassin (for stealth and poison abilities, so you can poison your enemy before sticking the bombs on and detonating them).

All good fun Smile

Is this Rift a Space-Dimension-Fantasy-Taliban game?

All I read is bombs and bombs and ... BOMBS!

BTW: In Champions you can switch off the comic outlining, to make the "Comic-Book" game less drawn looking. Rolling Eyes If need be ...

LOL, well you can stick an arrow in their eye if you have a bomb phobia Smile

Didnt know about that cartoon adjustment, but I have uninstalled the game and as I'll be playing Rift, theres no point in re-downloading it I guess. Thanks for the heads up though Smile

Is Rift breaking the habit of
One Tank - Two Healer/Supporter - and the rest are DPS?

Doesn't look like it from the website's view!

And I don't believe that there is another spot for a "Monthly Fee Fantasy MMORPG" besides WoW.
WoW is still too good.

No, it breaks the mould with regards to that, with the correct build, even a Rogue can tank.

Initially you choose one "soul", lets stick with Rogue for arguments sake.

A rogue can have 9 subclasses, eg Marksman, Ranger, Saboteur, Assassin, Riftstalker, Nightblade, Infiltrator and Bladedancer.

Initially you start of with one soul, do about an hours worth of beginners quests and wind up with three souls.

You get to choose which 3 from the nine souls listed.

Each of the souls, through their skill trees can be built with a specific purpose in mind, eg as mentioned above, a Ranger for the pet to hold aggro, mixed with assassin for DoT damage and stealth, plus Saboteur for burst damage.

As you progress a bit further, you get to your capital city, where you can do quests to get more souls, further adding to your list of skills, from all the souls you collect, you can then create different builds for different occasions, Solo, Raid, Group, PvP etc. and for working differently in those settings by rearranging your skillset to create many different archetypes.

Also, you get (for PvP rewards), extra souls that are specifically designed with PvP in mind.

Here is a skill calculator, you should be familiar with these from WoW, choose a class, Rogue/Cleric etc. then click on the "holes in the middle of each section and choose a sub class and you can check out the skill trees, which is handy for planning builds :
