If your behind a router and find you dont need to port forward, your most likely using upnp.

I take it then that "Universal Plug N Play" is somehow a problem? Otherwise you wouldn't be wishing my client to uninstall... Smile

what problem does this represent to the torrenting community and do you have a link to more detailed relevant information regarding this?

If I had known it was a problem of some kind I would have kept the port forward implemented...

And BTW I dont "think" i do use UPNP to connect to my router. I have different IPs for all client PCs and hardware that are connected to the router. Perhaps the router does this by default? I'm not too sure.

cheers

Just login to the router and see it just might have UPNP enabled by default..

We have a seed count, and a leech count, as well. how about a derp count so we can tell how much epic idiocy is associated with a torrent

Even though I have the automatic port forward function in my new router, as far as I know you still have to tell your client to tell your router which port to forward. Which uTorrent does just fine. But I still have the option and do manually port forward just to make sure every thing is open. Port forwarding is especially important in the private sector because if the tracker can't see you then you do not get credit for uploads even if you are. That is not as big a problem in the public sector because many peers could care less about uploading and only concern themselves about download speeds.

Proof of that is the number of Download speed waaa post vs the number of people that make post concerning slow upload speed. Wait...there aren't any.

Seems like most torrents contain the proper information and you can see the file list and choose from the list part or all of the files. You certainly would not want to clog the torrent up with migrated peer comments, I don't think I could handle that flood of intellect. So off the top of my head I really can't think of any real function, except to maybe have your client automatically take a look at your auto port forward and and run it again if needed.
