Hi community. Over the past 4 years I've been collecting lots of movies, tv shows, and software, always with the idea in mind that I was making sort of a future archive, so that I could have copies of torrents that lose popularity.
So I've managed to accumulate around 7TB of files. Around 2TB of TV shows, most in 720p and some in 1080p. 2,5 TB of 1080p movies. 1,5TB of 720p movies, and 400GB of DVD movies. And a little under 600GB in software.
Now I want to make one massive torrent with all this data available, but previous attempts at making a torrent have failed even after following the "how to publish a torrent" guide. So before I try to go ahead with this massive undertaking, I'm asking the community for your opinion and help to make sure this torrent never runs out of seeders. |

not many people would be able, or want to seed a file so big.
why dont you break the files down into much smaller torrents. that would ensure more seeders. |

Break it into sub categories of around 350 gigs each.
Anymore and so many people will be left out.
Not everyone has 7tb's of drive space.
In fact a lot of people still have trouble with 500 gigs |

I actually have around 12TB myself hehe, but thanks for the idea. I think I might break it out into parts, or alphabetically. |

Even if you could create a torrent from such a large directory it would take a very long time.
Most of the people would select what they wanted from the list, you would never really be able to stop seeding it, you would have yourself an uncontrolled loop of people wanting some of it. People wanting all of it and not having enough space..basically all the good and bad things all wrapped up into one.
If you really want to share basically most of your hard drive space, just make an open FTP connection and then advertise the log in on facebook or make a you tube video called access to my PC for free and give the log in out there.
But, for the sake of knowledge, I would like to know if you could actually consolidate the contents into just one directory, create a torrent file with the trackers and then actually upload it to a tracker site.
Let us how that goes...and good luck...I am pulling for you. |

No offense but the idea of a 7TB torrent is just ridiculous, they don't even sell HDDs bigger than 4TB yet. Break it up into specific packs and add a list of content and a description. Simply dumping your entire download folder is not how you make a good upload. |

Surely the .torrent file would be too big for the majority of sites ? I had to make a 2mb file for a 56gb upload ..... |

and if i understood what i was reading a while back a lot of people would have problems utilizing anything over 2.2TB due to limitations.

Like mentioned, I think your number 1 roadblock would be the fact that you cannot get everything into one drive so that you can have it all under one directory. If you look at the torrent creation process you can select file or directory. So there you have it. Unless you can choose a raid number that would actually allow your operating system to actually view your entire contents as just one drive. But I do not thing that is a choice for Raid. |
