Sound like you have quite the library there mate, how many disks you have? |
Before I joined Isohunt just over 2 years ago and started downloading stuff, I probably had in the region of a 1000 DVDs, that's almost tripled in my time on Isohunt. The majority I burn as AVI (data disc), several movies on 1 disc, the occasional movie I burn to DVD/PAL.
I update my list often, If I lend out I make a note of it. I have still repeated occasionally. I bought 2 copies (at 2 different times) of Stardust for my daughter, and got stuck with one. I'm getting old and forgetful (even with help) |

I could never be bothered burning to disc. I have a 1TB Iomega director external media drive which is hooked to my HD tv and surround sound system. Watch and store my downloaded movies on that. Tend to download the larger higher quality files mostly. Then another couple of external hard drives for backup of the media drive, and storage and backup of more movies. I then have my blueray player, for which i have been buying my favourite and what i deem to be "classic" movies, on blueray disc. |

"manage my disks"?
free PC off Freecycle +
ubuntu 11.04 +
deulge as a daemon +
mt-daap (itunes sharing) +
mediatomb (upnp sharing)+
gnome + vlc (watch the tv plugged into the server - it's at the end of the bed...) +
ps3 (watch streamed media in lounge room) / PC's in each kids room / laptop
When I grow out of my current box. HP make a really good box which can handle 8xhdd's internally. I intend to re-implement exactly what I have done on my free box, bigger.
The only paid-for item which is used for bittorrent / streaming, is the hdd (for playback, the tvs, ps3, and some of the pc's/monitors were purchased... but one pc + one monitor was freecycled) |

there is no method to my madness. discs, external drives, my desktop...everywhere you look there's hundreds of movies and thousands of songs.
one of these days i will implement a system so i can actually find things when i want them, not weeks later.
i am a sucker for having things store bought though still. i love my favourite movies to be on the nice (legal) disc with the fancy case. |

I'm like that Pigpie, got to have the shiny new ones, the favourites in their original legal form. I am especially like that with awesome books though, more than movies and music. I love the feel of real paper in my hands not to mention taking pride in my BIG bookcases
My storage system is still only at the start, but since I have young toddlers I need to try to be organised but so far I am using CD/DVD folders for disc copies, USB drives for my ebooks for easy access and I keep everything on external hard drives just in case the discs get damaged or lost.
Though when it comes to the movies and music that I buy from shops, I keep them in their covers in CD or DVD racks. |

I set them clear, measurable objectives, evaluate their performance accordingly and give them guidance and training where necessary. |

Oh, I'm entirely sure. It's just that the list of answers seem more fitted to a question along the lines of "What do you store your files on?", whereas my answer was more suited to the question that was actually written. |

I have pc connected to 36" Hannspree tv in the bedroom, 3.6TB of disc space, 2TB & 1TB & 600Gb. When i fill a disc i usually sell it on to my Brother for the price of next Gen upgrade. i.e. sold 500Gb got 1TB, Sold 1TB got 2TB. Copy files over and continue at no actual cost! Had about 800 Discs before i started doing this. Only downside is if I ruin a HD! When i upgrade my pc i will consider a raid array as backup. HD's are so cheap now. Never had one go yet! Apart from on laptop, thats because they get moved while on? Latest laptop is my 4th, however it is 3 years old as i try never to move it whilst switched on. Something that should be reiterated more in pc magazines (in my personal opinion). Same opinion as above posts, love the fact that i can watch a movie then delete or keep, depending on if i will watch again etc. Also i have just discovered that my dvd surround system (LG TV & DVD Player) in living room can play movies directly from USB Stick. practically never burn discs now!
PS when i really enjoy a movie i use amazon to get the real Macoy! I usually get a collection of a particular actor, like Denzel Washington, Liam Neesom etc. Cheap as chips & delivered to the door (1 click) got to love it! |

back in the heyday before external HDDs were popular with me i used, and still use occasionally hard cases for my CDs. it does help to have them on hand sometimes when going for a drive and i want a listen. plus i have collections of other stuffs like videos, documents, images, stuff that's old now but may come to use in the future. i've had several problems with files i have lost, but thanks to the CDs i burnt them onto i could safely copy them to my external HDD. |
