i use vuze to download torrents and i basically only download movies (dvd rips) they are always good quality, download at a good speed.
BUT when i watch it after 45 mins they ALWAYS start glitching or skipping like a scratched dvd. i know this isn't normal as it only started happening (to every new download) this time. ((i previously stopped dl'ing a year ago and started up again recently)) hopefully someone can help i've also posted this in vuze forums. am i possibly downloading wrong ???

1. what codec package are you using
2. what player are you trying to play them in
3. please give a link to one you are having problems with so someone can see if there are any comments suggesting problems.

just copy/paste a link from the files summary page.you need to remove the http:// from the link in order to get it to post since you just joined.

Apart from what Neph said, if you are trying to watch it before it has fully downloaded that will happen. 45 mins since starting the download may not be enough to complete downloading.

isohunt.com/torrent_details/351608661/conan+the+barbarian?tab=summary

here's a link to the summary page of a movie i recently downloaded.
i've tried watching directly from the vuze player, windows media player, windows media centre, toshiba dvd player.. i have numerous players available on computer and they all do this. SO , i tried moving the file to a new location, stoping azereus from processing anything while i was trying to play (from task manager) closing down vuze, stop seeding.... im not sure what else to try.

p.s i'm not sure what the codec package is or where to find that information.

thanks again

Have you yourself added any codecs or are you just using the pre installed codecs ?

Ok so it's a jaybob torrent, I will download it and see if it plays ok.

edit: Ok after reading the comments I won't be downloading this ! Several people have received infringement letters and I have no desire to join the list, nobody mentions play back problems though.

so it's not the file it's something on your end.

okay i figured you got it fixed since you never responded.first off ditch vuze it's bloated and not sure about the player but it's probably trash.you shouldn't need to go to task manger to close a thing like vuze.

get utorrent for downloading,CCCP and VLC for playback that should cover most bases and play just about anything.you can use the link in this tut for utorrent and set it up by it.

https://isohunt.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=689261

CCCP is lite but has most codecs you'd need and comes with a very good player,MPC : http://www.cccp-project.net/

VLC has it own codecs and will not conflict with other players, codec packages, etc. : http://www.videolan.org/vlc/

between those two players you should be able to play just about anything you'll run into.make sure before trying to play anything the file is 100% completely downloaded.

Try and play it in Media Player Classic
Or VLC
If your using Windows Media Player install CCCP

Use gspot to see if you have the right codecs to play the file ..Never install to many codec packs or they will conflict with each other .. Wink

edit Dang Sad

ok i'll try downloading on utorrent instead of vuze, i'm still not sure what codecs are, but i guess i'll read up on them. i haven't search for codec packages or anything so i'm assumeing the default or pre installed codecs are what i'm using, not sure where to find out that info tho...

if a file is downloaded ok or properly, does the player matter? (it didn't do this before remember) the ones i have are not made to specifically play torrents (i dont think... they are just media players) so is cccp or vlc specific?

p.s
yes i always wait till the movie is completely downloaded before i play the file.

I often do a contextual defrag on large video files before viewing, that helps too Smile

I downloaded CCCP, i kind of understand what they are for but not sure where to see if i have to many (?) and Windows media player classic came with it. i downloaded off of utorrent. it still skipped. i'm not sure if i'm doing something else wrong. will the CCCP kick start on it's own or do ihave to start the program or anything before i start watching? now that i have that cccp, should i somehow get rid of the other ones (if there are any)

thanks for all the help, i just want to watch a movie with out it skipping

if you never downloaded any then you should be fine, the codecs work in the background allowing your machine to play the file through the player.if it's still skipping in MPC then the problem is your pc.it's not really windows MPC any more as they have made significant changes but that was the base.

just to be clear you are talking about the downloaded file and it is 100% completely downloaded all 1.36GB in the case of the jaybob for example and trying to play it in the player, and not talking about a file that you've downloaded and burned to dvd.

yes, the file is 1.37gb completely downloaded before i watch. if it's my computer where do i go from here? i think i might know something..
are codec's files that look like CC-019238-49081203948-0129384 or something because i had c cleaner on my computer and it might of deleted all that stuff Rolling Eyes so if it did, is there a way to get it back or because i have the CCCP would it take care of it?

CCleaner does not remove codecs. Or anything useful for that matter. I use it a lot and it is quite safe.

Has vlc also failed to play the files? if it has, then it is definitely not a codec problem.

The simplest solution is to copy it onto a thumb drive and play it on another computer. If that works the file is ok and problem is elsewhere. If it doesn't the file is to blame.

well i know it's not the files because i usually always download from jaybob i downloaded cccp and windows media player classic. and it still skipped. i could try download vlc now... not sure if it's going to do much. perhaps theres something wrong with my computer but nothing else seems to be out of the ordinary except this issue with playing movies....i download some audio (music) also from isohunt and they play fine.... so i dont think it's viruses (could be tho) i'm really not THAT computer savy although i do know a thing or two....

any other options for me?? perhaps i have a little bug hiding in here somewhere that i need to clear out or move something to a new location or.... gosh i dont know...
