ahhh, Sad i was running Ubuntu last night when i was doing everything normal no tweaking just normal work. then..i rebooted...BOOT.INI file corrupt...so i went to my xp disk and did the recovery (fixboot) as well as (fixmbr) nothing was working properly...eventually i was like ok **** it, so i reinstalled windows...NOT THINKING ABOUT MY HARD DRIVE it was formatted... Sad it has picture from 30 years ago.. and all my life... i new i should have backed it up and i was thinking about it days ago but never got around to it...these are reprocusions. well so ive seen alot of Formatted Hard Drive recovery services on google and such and was wondering if any of you had ever had to recover a formattd hard drive and how well they worked..id pay pretty much any sum for this information back as it is my life in a hard drive. but i am just trying to see if there is a program that actually works, i always had thought you couldnt get the stuff back, never really researched. but any help would be appreciated..thanks guys. please try to help me out Sad

Hi Mate,

If you have formatted it most likey it will lose the names of your files when you try and recover it so you may need to do a RAW recovery which will separate .doc files and .JPG and so on all together with no names.

download Ontrack Easy Recovery and mess with the options. you can try to do the normal recovery but that may not find what you're looking for in which case do the RAW version.

It actually has an option to recover a formatted drive. You will need another HDD to copy the data to though as you cant recover to the same drive.

Hope this helps you mate as I know what a pain it is to lose data.
