Just finding my feet in the world of mac and was wondering what the alternative to peer block is on the mac.

I noticed you can still use utorrent but I also was wondering whether there are better torrent software tools out there for the mac

Anyone shed any light Very Happy

Not sure if this is of any use mate but i believe this torrent client has a sort of built-in peer blocking option, and is mac compatible:

http://www.transmissionbt.com/

(Never used a mac myself, or transmission for that matter but a friend uses one and says transmission is pretty good)

Deluge is another one
http://deluge-torrent.org/
Then you have one from the same people that owns utorrent probably more stable than utorrent for mac ..
BitTorrent
http://www.bittorrent.com/downloads/mac
Transmission has a ip filter built in and Deluge has a ip filter plugin I think..
Then you have the bloated Vuze for Mac that can import block lists ..

Tomato is another client for the mac
http://sarwat.net/bittorrent/

qBittorrent is another dont know to much about it or if its a credible client
http://www.qbittorrent.org/download.php

Cheers Guys, Very Happy

I knew I could count on you!!!

I did some googling before I asked the question but to be honest the forums/ information out there was a little sketchy hence the reason for the question.

I like the idea of the Ip filter built in, its a toss up between Deluge and transmission

I'll let Johnno have the casting vote...................

I use transmission pretty much 100% of the time. I also have ignore unencrypted peers on..... saves on bad data and is generally faster.
Transmission also have an inbuilt blocking of bad peers, so if you get bad data more than twice from a peer they no longer connect.
The blocklist is also pretty good and kept up to date.
In transmission there are 2 preference areas. One is global and to be found in the top menu of your screen. The second is when you doble click any torrent in your DL list. here you can adjust priority and also the up and down speed for that specific torrent.
Quite useful as well seeded files I just leave at 20kb up but files that are less well known but on occasion people seek i leave as unlimited. This almost never interferes with day to day internet speed.
