The problem is that if I update uTorrent 2 to uTorrent 3 I cannot rollback, because I don't have the install of the V2 and only the V3 install is available on uTorrent official web site ! Rolling Eyes

That's why I ask if someone already tested it. Confused

Well, uTorrent 3.1 still loads ipfilter.dat created by updater 0.4 :

[2011-12-30 00:31:44] Loaded ipfilter.dat (221899 entries)

but when i run the updater while uTorrent is running, uTorrent quits ...

(also, I still get the "ERROR: the system cannot find the file specified, 5")

Of course, that's what I do after i found out that it crashes uTorrent ... just thought I'd mention it.

But the '5' error always occurs ; also when running the updater when uTorrent is not running.

I just saw this app referenced in another thread today... Gotta say... works beautifully! After making sure I had it running correctly with Win Task Scheduler, (Win 7 Ultimate 64bit SP1 and uTorrent 2.2.1) I set it to trigger every two days. Looks like a low maintenance application. Thanks !

This question is for fear-otaku. I run UTorrent with PeerBlock is it necessary to also use an ip filter right on UTorrent and will it cause conflicts like running 2 Anti-Virus programs at the same time? PeerBlock seems to do the trick but sometimes more is better. I have 7-8 block lists loaded and that lil sucker shows the blocked IP's flying at warp speed.
Also if you recommend using both will your updater actually update U Torrent or just any added lists? The reason I ask is I passed on the last UTorrent upgrade because of incompatibility issues, if it had been just 1 or 2 I wouldn't hav worried but there was a gazillion of um. Kidding it was actually closer to 2 dozen.

ipFilter works specifically with uTorrent - PeerBlock works with your browser, Chrome, FireFox, IE, or whatever it is you use so they are different programs. It should be fine to run both together, I used to and never had any conflict issues.

Thanks Rob! Fancy meeting you here lol. Any idea if it also updates UTorrent or is it only the block list? That can be tomorrow's project. You can never be too safe!

It won't update uTorrent, you have to do that yourself - or not if you don't want the newer versions with all the bells and whistles.
