that it is wrong we know.
that laws should change we can agree.
But talking of Mr pink as a third person is where it is more destructive than helpful.
He has turned to the forum which is a respectful thing to do.
If we look at smoking laws those that fight the hardest are the ex smokers.
If more people guilty of drink driving tragedies were to be open and discuss their issues then supporting them rather than just repeating how wrong it was may well help bring about change.
A driving license can be a license to kill if people act irresponsibly.
People as Mr Pink who have the balls to admit their stupidity and turn to the community are the best advocates for change. They are the very people who can stand up and say that it is wrong as they have been there. They are not people in a suit that say it as it is the right thing to say. They are the people who through their own mistakes and suffering are in a position to to convince those that think only one or two beers is ok. The biggest problem is people who think they feel fine after a beer or two when in fact they not. |

I thought I had posted an update for Mr Pink here before...so sorry about it being a bit late for those of you interested.
In April 2011, after pleading guilty to one aggravated count of cause death by dangerous driving and one aggravated count of cause serious harm by dangerous driving, Mr Pink was sentenced to four years and three months jail with a non-parole period of two years.
Mr Pink is a very caring man and decided to drive that night because a fishing/camping trip had soured with a serious altercation between his brother-in-law (also his very close friend) and his father-in-law. The decision to drink drive was wrong but his concern for the situation, his desire to get the others home, and separated, and his being inebriated clouded his judgement.
Mr Pink has a wife and three children, his third child was born while he was in jail last year. He is expected to be paroled in about March/April 2013.
Don't risk drunk driving, the cost is far too high. |

It's a shame all around, but my condolences to the grieving family. And as for mr pink, don't let life get you down man. I know someone who was involved in a very similar event except he will most likely get 10 years. And he has a daughter that was born as well. Just take a lesson from this, all who are reading, don't ever drink and drive. If nothing else, the life you are saving might just be your own. It's been said a good bit, but it's true |

A poor decision and error in judgement has now changed lives forever. How easy it is for our path in life to change for the worse, with one poor decision.
A very sad story for all those involved but also a very sobering reality. Thanks for sharing |

Illinga thanks for the update. Mr Pink is indeed a caring individual as can be seen from many of his past posts.
In many respects his plight only amplifies how drink can be destructive when taken and then trying to go about normal activities as driving.
If you have more contact please pass on our regards. . |
