help download issue

im trying to download a torrent and it says "An attempt was made to access a socket in a way forbidden by its access permissions"

hmm what torrent are you trying to download? maybe post a link. could be on a private tracker though error sounds related to your setup. Most likely though sounds like a problem with port forwarding i would think. Have you got port forwarding setup? Might need to setup if not, and if it is setup, it could be configured incorrectly. Can also try power on and off your router if using one. Maybe try uninstalling and reinstalling your torrent client if its not that, and if still not working post more info like your OS, torrent client, and if AV software/firewall. Might be a problem with firewall blocking it, or maybe an issue with something like peerblock running??

It could very well be anything that Bazzer^^ has just posted, but sounds suspiciously to me like you need to add an exception in your firewall for torrenting - try that first and im sure you will be fixed

Have a look in this sticky guide for any more info on downloading if not cos that would be my best guess.

EDIT: what AV are you running? Do you have just one AV as sometimes running two even if one is disabled can cause some weird glitches....just a thought.

im using u torrent, im new to torrents so im not sure how to check for the port forwarding, i have already uninstalled it and re installed it once cause it wouldnt work, so if u could explain how to do the port forwarding then ill try it and see if it helps

Does seem like a firewall problem I have seen it before with a public tracker when running peerblock..If you have another software firewall make sure you add a rule to let the port through it..

I was also editing my post 1024gig lol ..
Just read some posts on the utorrent forum through google says Norton and other security can do this..

Yup pretty sure, I set up a friends system for torrenting and came accross similar errors.

Had to get medieval on Norton's ass cos thought that was the problem. Got rid of it then different error, firewall was blocking so added exception and all been great since...

I also seen this in a multiple trackers torrent and one of the trackers giving that error and the rest working fine think that problem was down to peerblock.. It would be interesting to know if the torrent has other trackers on it to see if they are giving an error it can also be a faulty tracker .. Malwarebytes reg version will block ips and can be over sensitive with this at times..
