What of the military

i will always class myself as a soldier, although i probobly couldn't pass the basic fitness test now. Laughing

i left 9 yrs ago due to things beyond my control. i know 100% that i would still be in the army now if i could.
most soldiers now get a trade as well as there military skills, but i would always say to any recruits.(you are a soldier first and a tradesman second).
we didn't like war, but its what we were trained for.
civvys who have never been in the army dont realise all the privelages we get that they dont. here are some things i got paid to do, civvys pay a fortune to do them.

i completed over 250 parachute jumps (sports parachuting), including water jumps and halo. (high altitude low opening).

i spent in total 3 months skiing on some of the best slopes in europe.

i spent 2 weeks learning how to play golf.

3 weeks white water rafting.

became a qualified football referee.

got paid for spending 3 yrs in cyprus doing very little work apart from working on my tan.

now how much would it normally cost to do these sort of things.?????

and the best thing about the army.....your mates. they will always be there for you, and there friends for life.

you'd have to be specific, there were a few presidents who sent good men to die for unjust causes imo: R. Nixon, L.B. Johnson, G.W. Bush Jr. yeah i get which one you're referring to.

gatesofoblivion posted a question that i believe was answered and now we are a long way off on a tangent.
If we are to discuss military and matters relating to those serving or those that have served then a new topic is in order. This one is getting off track.
None of the presidents named were in the news for the question posed by the OP.

ok. well imo it is immoral to disgrace the dead that way. you can paint it "oh they were terrorists so they deserved it," but in the end they become just as bad as they are. those terrorists who pissed on the rights of others cannot be justified, but neither is pissing on them either. it's just the 'eye for an eye' thing i find disgusting.

With these type of actions a simple question will be asked....
Do we want these people policing the world.....well i can imagine the short answer is no.
What I personally find so disgusting is that by these actions the young men and women who have died fighting for freedom and will not return home are having any honour due to them dragged through the dirt.
I know it is only a handful doing this shit but its all the media need for a circus sensation. And those who fought and died with honour are lost amid a mess of who did what and why.

thats sick, what makes a trained soldier want to do such a cowerdly thing to a defencless animal.
not just the person doing it, but everyone in the room laughing should be court martialed and given the biggest sentence possible.

I'm just sorta pleased that it's the US troops getting caught on camera.
If any of our lads did anything close to that they get whoopassed and rtu'd
In one way we're lucky over here, in addition to the 'Really Hard Work' that lee has done Wink

we had training on how to humanely kill, butcher and cook any edible animal that lives in the UK, baseball clubs, cricket sticks and golf bats weren't mentioned anywhere.
I have to ask just why the US troops feel the need to video everything, just seems like everthing gets leaked one way or another
