Alright...Here's the thing, I'm probably going to sound like a complete retard saying this as my knowledge of torrents is terrible but...
How do I speed up my torrents?
I'm serious...I'm on a fiber-optic connection getting 40mbps on an unlimited usage plan. I barely download as it is so I'm not using up my bandwidth.
I download files that have more than enough seeders and I still average a torrent download of about 60kiB/s....
I mean honestly...It can't just be that slow for everyone?
Is there anyway I can speed up my download and if there's a thread that explains this please link me to it.
I use Bitlord for torrents.
Thanks in advance, Persona. |

well bitlord is probably your main problem.. most trackers and users ban users of bitlord as it is a known cheater client and sends bad data.. start off by getting utorrent http://www.utorrent.com/
secondly read this thread.. ironically titled
Speeding up your Torrents

you didn't follow the instructions given then or you internet provider throttles p2p.the ubuntu release you were supposed to use to check is always seeded well enough to max out my bandwidth.a quick check shows a peak at 2.4 and and average at 1.8-1.9MB/s. |

I followed the instructions to the T, double checking as I went along, I doubt I missed the steps.
It's slowly creeping up at 7KiB/s now...
Is this bad <,<? |

Hmmmm...It won't let me post a link to what I'm downloading but it's an anime series called Bakemonogatari. It's a complete series download at about 8gb.
My ISP is BT - Broadband and I'm located in Northern Ireland. |

that's anime so is possibly from bakabt and you'd need to go there to get the latest tracker.there are usually a link in the
or download .torrent from sources:
or possibly google the title if your client is showing an outdated bakabt tracker.you don't have to be a member to download there but do need to be one if you wish to use their search.
as for bt broadband someone who's used it will be better able to tell you about throttling but from this thread they do

| get rid of bitlord first off.then get utorrent and maybe try setting your client up correctly should make a difference. |
I second that, and I also recommend
uTorrent v2.2
, since (in my opinion) the newer versions are
losing quality
. |

so long as it's set up correctly it doesn't really matter the version the speeds are the same,i always max out my bandwidth if the seeds are there to do so. those gadgets he's speaking of you have to choose to download them, they are not done without you consent.there are maybe some bugs with the latest one as they are updating daily but my speeds have remained constant. |

I agree with the 2.2 point, I took the new version and threw it off the internet, heap of shit, went back to an older version and no problem. |

yeah, i've learned that utorrent v3 doesn't kick/ban peers for sending bad data, so that's something to remember. |
