How to Remove Your Google Search History Before Google's New Privacy Policy Takes Effect

The EFF (Electronic Frontier Foundation) has a simple article up showing you how to remove your Google search history before the new privacy policy takes effect. It is important to note that disabling Web History in your Google account will not prevent Google from gathering and storing this information and using it for internal purposes.

Basically all you need to do is:

1: Sign into your Google account

2: Go to https://www.google.com/history

3: Click “remove all web history”

4” Click “ok”.

Note: You will need to do this for all Google accounts you have.

Its why you should either

A- not have a google account

B- never search for bomb making, baby bashing, or midget granny porn whil you are logged into it

C- Every one can use Mick Jones like me, he does some evil shit as it is so it don't matter Laughing

i have those google ranges in a separate list in peerblock, so i can un block if i really need to see a page, and block again. have you seen thier antics with sidestepping privacy on safari and IE?

dont know if this is current...

Yeah that's some big balls on Google's part. I filter google-anal.lickers and it's variants at my router. That ways they cant be sidestepping onto my pc without jumping though some hoops in my router.

Thanks for the heads up and advice.
Not that I really do anything wrong on the net I don't like the idea of a company collecting data on me. I'm going to look into it and most likely delete my old google account (don't know why I set it up anyway). Duckduckgo seems like the way to go these days (pun intended Smile). Google are getting to big for their boots it seems.
Cheers.

Ok,2 noob questions here:

1) This also refers to the general chrome web history without been logged to any google account?

2) This update cancels previous instructions?
[UPDATE 2/22/2012]: Note that disabling Web History in your Google account will not prevent Google from gathering and storing this information and using it for internal purposes. It also does not change the fact that any information gathered and stored by Google could be sought by law enforcement.

With Web History enabled, Google will keep these records indefinitely; with it disabled, they will be partially anonymized after 18 months, and certain kinds of uses, including sending you customized search results, will be prevented. If you want to do more to reduce the records Google keeps, the advice in EFF's Six Tips to Protect Your Search Privacy white paper remains relevant.

All urchin.js does is collect information for Google Analytics which website owners use. Everything you do on the web can be traced in some form or another, don't do anything that is illegal and its no issue, you will end up spending half of your time being paranoid about who is seeing what and when.
