How to add a tracker to a DHT-only torrent?

OK folks, there's a torrent I fetched that doesn't have any active trackers attached (originally a Piratebay tracker, now not responding). There's a few seeds via DHT, and I'm now seeding it that way, but I'd like to add my favourite tracker to it. Won't regenerating the torrent with a tracker attached change the hash value?

So, is there an (easy) way to add a tracker to an existing torrent without affect the existing hash, to keep the current DHT seeds and peers in the loop?

Yes it is possible.
Don't know for other torrent client but for µtorrent you go to the "Trackers" field, then right mouse click and select "Add tracker".

This can be done safely without the info-hash change.

But what's the use of adding trackers?
When the trackers accepts the new info-hash without the need of uploading the torrent file to the tracker's home-site, you will be the only peer.

You adding the tracker will not help unless other seeds have the same trackers in their clients that have the full file..
like schrikg already said you would be the only peer lol Sometimes the .torrent is edited and uploaded to other sites so you might get lucky..
Check the info hash and it sometimes gets you to sites with a tracker on it Wink

Adding these trackers to torrents only on (the now dead) Pirate Bay tracker has worked for me a lot of times. Wink

Remember to leave the space inbetween each tracker.
