So, I am not exactly new to p2p, but have not really got the whole "gist" of the reason why my upload speed usually exceeds my d/l speed. I try to keep my recently d/l-ed files available (but as I have space and security constraints, I do eventually move them), and am kinda piggy backing, so ports are not accessible, and even when they were, I still had issues. On occasion, I see blinding d/l speeds (1400kbs), but not on a regular basis. I try to change ports (to find a faster? one), very little change there. The icon usually denotes that I have "no incoming connections", but on occasion (again, and not in conjunction with the screaming d/ls), it confirms that my network is fine...this does not seem to have any determination towards d/l speed.
I realize the number of seeds and such determines speed, but we're talking 60kbs, is a high-end average d/l .....what are the things I need to look at (RAM?, CPU speed?, hard drive space?)

tanks....

Only happened once or twice, in 2007,2008. Some very large torrents stuck at 99.8%, and kept downloading about 3gb of false data before finishing.

Fortunately, torrent clients are advanced now and will just autoban IP's from the seed swarm -> end user, if they supply too many packets that don't match with hash check.

just download nipfilter.dat.gz, extract it and copy it to ipfilter.dat in %appdata%/utorrent
you are correct, the file does not exist until you put it there

Hi I'm completely new to this, so i have downloaded the link and opened ffile but i cant seem to find the folder %appdata%/utorrent anyway, where can i locate that file so i can save the text document? I have the ipfilter.dat on true. I hope this makes sense, i feel like a real idiot. I'm learning though so thanks all for your patience Wink
