Don't get me started...Just don't.

I loved the game (atrocious side quests notwithstanding) and was thoroughly having a good a time until that "ending". For as trilogy with so many decisions and outcomes it really pissed me off that the ending amounted to no more than "pick a color out of three" and none of them made much sense or were even that different. I can appreciate what the devs were going for and I like that they didn't go for a corny rainbow shitting unicorn,everyone-lives-happily-ever-after ending. But it was executed terribly. Bioware has announced "added closure" which is good but it's a little deflating to find that given all the ways of playing through the trilogy and lofty developer claims it turns out that pretty much none of it counts for anything.

Yeah it pretty much boils down to:

"It doesn't really matter what you did, as we said it would, because ultimately you just choose at the end, regardless of what you've actually done."

Watch this and tell me you don't agree. While this guy is a tool he raises some valid points.

I enjoyed most of the game although the writing was pretty bad for the most part. It didn't really matter though as we've already invested so much in the characters it's easy to look past. However after the end all the little things about the game that should've annoyed you but didn't rise to the surface in a bitter torrent of despair. Seriously, I'm still upset.

The series has never been about answers. In the first game when you converse with Sovereign on Virmire (which is for me the defining point of the series, I still get wood when i think about it) he says things like:

"Rudimentary creatures of blood and flesh, you touch my mind, fumbling in ignorance, incapable of understanding. "

"We are eternal. The pinnacle of evolution and existence. Before us, you are nothing. Your extinction is inevitable. We are the end of everything."

"There is a realm of existence so far beyond your own you cannot even imagine it. I am beyond your comprehension. I am Sovereign."

"Organic life is nothing but a genetic mutation, an accident. Your lives are measured in years and decades. You wither and die. We are eternal, the pinnacle of evolution and existence. Before us, you are nothing. Your extinction is inevitable. We are the end of everything. "

Clearly the writers for got this speech from the first game and instead appealed to the idiots of today who must have answers when it has never been about answers. Shepard is just a man who wants to save the galaxy so spare the half committed answers please.

Also note the fourth quote there. This defies the end of the third game where we are told that reapers were made to save organic life. It's not just me who hates it I'm aware so I'm not alone in this boat but it really pisses me off.

What happened to Bioware? EA have been a terrible influence. EA have been to Bioware what Microsoft were to Lionhead! Look at how much feces came out of Lionhead's proverbial mouth before the release of Fable 3. Bioware have done the same, filled us with empty promises. I'm done with them. Between ME3 and Dragon Age 2 they can suck my balls. So can their 16 different endings!..... I managed to find four; the three different coloured beams and a fourth where the Illusive man kills Anderson and you but, even though it's the best ending, you have to be retarded for that to happen.

What happened to the great writing teams who wrote the original KOTOR and ME1?

Sorry for the super long rant but I invested 5 years into this and I'm not happy at all, even after a few joints I'm still livid Evil or Very Mad

Only just seen this thread so maybe a little late but there is good news.
The developers have stated publicly that the outcry from many fans was so loud that they are now going to create a download for its players. They have stated that as the ME community was so overwhelmingly loud in its discontent that they will go back to the table and rewrite additional material for gamers to be able to interact in a more conclusive ending.

Now this may sound like a quick fix to pacify the rage of gamers but on a positive note i do see that the gamers of the world when united of an opinion can bring about action on the part of a developer team to deliver what was hyped. In this sense the easy cop out is now no longer a real option.

Do we praise the company for going back to the table to give us what we want ?? maybe not. However praise to the fans of the ME trilogy for not taking it and then just sulking. Their voices were not only heard but also have power. After all we the players and consumers are the bread and butter the developers need so it is a good lesson that has been learned......

I'm sure Bioware and EA are Jizzing their pants at all the extra money they will make. I do agree that the concept of the movement is good and from the campaign something has been achieved but it's over for me unless they rewrite the ending. Additional material bolted on at the end is not good enough! It must be changed or the whole story just doesn't make any sense...

Example of this senselessness:

Sovereign: "My kind transcends your very understanding. We are each a nation - independent, free of all weakness. You cannot grasp the nature of our existence."

So if the Reapers are not networked like the geth how can Shepard choose to control them? Why could i not "investigate" magic boy and ask him a ridiculous number of questions like I was able to with Sovereign to find all this out? Why does My Shepard accept things I don't want him to accept?

Aww man here i go again..... I shouldn't have started. I'm away to smoke a spliph. Here's to hoping i feel better in 20 mins Sad
