I've read the release ratings explanation where 50% is based on Reviews from external sites and 50% from isoHunt and other sources.

But I have noticed on isoHunt's release page from any particular uploader... the % ratings don't make any sense, or most likely I do not understand what that % rating means.

This release https://isohunt.com/release/786589/ shows a 83% Rating. Is that to be interpreted that it is considered a 8.3 out of 10 positive rating? Even tho being an isoHunt release shows no votes (yet alone the 0 Seed/leech count).

Where as this release https://isohunt.com/release/784901 shows no% Rating, and "0 Votes on isoHunt". Even tho in the torrent comments it has received 4 positive votes?

Any insight ? Or did I miss a thread or post that may have explained it better?

Thanks

it comes from the "New release posting" form

Review rating:
If you found one, paste in an authoritative review / critic rating here. This may be from 0-100 (%). The release's actual rating will be based on this and user votings.

in other words the uploader can stick whatever they like in there Laughing just most uploader don't bother with it because it's misleading

Ahh.. Ok .. got it.

I suppose (in the image below) when I saw the "Rating: (?)" I assumed that was indicating how that % number was derived. And the "(0 Votes on isoHunt)" was somehow tied into the torrent comments made by users... even tho if you click on it it links to a non existing link.

So basically the information in the above image is really useless as a fair rating of the torrent in any way, shape or form ??

when I first joined I assumed the same. it was only after I played around with the uploading side I found out how the rating % came about. ( Very Happy probably lucky I didn't get banned myself or my arse chewed at least)
I've never seen the "(0 Votes on isoHunt)" change. I think it's something left from a previous version of the site. isohunt has had 1 major change that I know of in the site development over the years. I think unless you got someone like Omega50 or possibly a_d it will be one of those universal mysteries

ahh, yup. pretty much.
it's probably being a little harsh though, there will be uploaders that will try to give an objective rating but there are a lot more that just whack a 100% rating too

I've been waiting a year for somebody to ask what the "Ratings" option was for, far too shy to ask myself Wink

Thanks guys.. Just trying to figuring out how the uploads actually work.

I'm having a bastard of a time uploading a torrent here... I'm still reading up to make sure I have not missed something.

But that will be a different post.. different issue Cool

Thanks Rob, (I'll start a new thread before I get to specific )

If you found a torrent (valid hash) that is not indexed here... can you upload the .tor here?

That being said... The .tor is being indexed by another site that regularly is being indexed by isohunt .. but the hash does not show up here in a search.

The hash is:

823B25CFCAAC10C3441A38FFD0ECF59D9024D6F7

The errors I get are anything from (isohunt... "waiting on upload") to a message that may indicate the hash may be banned.

If it says the hash may be banned it probably is for some reason like a DMCA or something Wink
The torrent could of been released here as well then been removed.

Edit did some digging Laughing

Although I had reviewed that thread earlier, I did not see that specific ">error" message.

Image

Instead, mine states the above " Problem storing torrent, please try again later ".. which led towards a either / or . Again... this is an existing torrent that I had found... that already had existing / functional trackers. If you google the hash... it does exist at another site... just not isoHunt.

And it seems like I did see some thread earlier today where mention was made about some conflict in the dbase in relation to the following. But the results were inconclusive.

If it was banned here for whatever reason... that is fine... its just that the nature of the error led me to believe there was another issue.

Thanks

4/12/12 Edit: Could a mod please delete the release: https://isohunt.com/release/791733 Still not sure why it would not fly... oh well
