Set up and use of mIRC

Connecting to Internet Relay Chat (IRC) is a simple process and is free.
mIRC is available for free but wants you to register it for $14. This is OPTIONAL .

To start with you will need a copy of mIRC. The direct link is below:

Download as you would any other program and install, then open.

On opening you will find a screen like this:

Firstly fill out the Nickname and Alternative fields with the name you want to use on IRC. I'd advise using the same(or similar) nick as you use on the Isohunt forums so we know who you are. Wink

Now thats done don't get excited and click connect, still a few more things to do. Confused

To talk to the Isohunt gang you need to connect to the p2p-network server. To do this select Servers from the tree bar on the side.

After selecting Servers the screen will show the default mIRC server list. To add the p2p-network select Add

Fill in the server details as follows:

Description: P2P-network
Server: irc.p2p-network.net
Ports: 6667

Then click Add

Then highlight the server and click Select

Hit Connect and your online.

Now the next step is to register your nick name and set up your auto-perform commands to make life easy. Very Happy

Registering your nick name is simple enough, in the status window type:

/msg nickserv register [yourpassword] [email]

(Don't add the brackets around your password and email Very Happy

)

Hit enter and your nick name is now registered with the password of your choosing.

Now that's done it's time to set up your Perform

First select the Options box in the top left corner. Then select Options on the tree bar, then the Perform button.

Fill your perform box out as follows:

/identify yourpassword
/join #isohunt
/join #pacland
/join #kfc
/mode +q killjoy

Don't forget to click the Enable Perform on Connect box. Then hit Ok

Now to set it all in place click Ok on the main options box and hit the Disconnect lightning bolt icon in the left corner. Now re-Connect by hitting the icon and everything should load up perfectly.

And that's it, your done. Very Happy

i dunno i'm connected with pacland and kfc but isohunt channel says its banned

when i do this step /msg nickserv register [yourpassword] [email] it wont take any email real or otherwise

fixed it dunno how

me dum dum not remove brackets

thax for helping to use it today i successfully join mirc. i used mirc in 2007 last time and i founded two special friends we have been chattin a long time but after i lost them. now i am trying to search. i never forget them in my life.

i am having problems here too - which yourpassword am i providing?
...when i did it i was BEA-you-tiful not eldedstFLeTcH pretty pretty but not bo-tiful

While setting this up, please note #kfc is now +R so register your nick... too many spammers.
