Mainly C, I download the things I used to have on VHS or DVD long ago or stuff I grew up with. For some things I've spent hours, even days looking for it in shops, the web etc, only to later on find it via a .torrent, it's easy and convenient to just type in the thing you want and hit search.

The music/movie promoters show me the "Big/Popular" music/movies, however if I want the stuff created by someone else you can look forever, also as mentioned before if I want something that ain't pormoted/popular at the moment it's impossible to find any other way.

Personally I think that the providers of music/movies/games/etc are the only market that still haven't grasped the concept of supply and demand. Lets say I pick London as an example, you'll find shops that sell clothes, food, etc at most corners, easy and it there since people need and want it. However lets say I wanted to listen to the music created by some friends of mine Chemical Vocation before they got some what popular, sure I could allways ask them for a CD, but if I wanted to buy it where should I have looked then?

I do realize that people don't like me downloading stuff they have spent alot of time and perhaps money on, but then let me buy it, belive me money is no issue. Still this market are constantly blocking me over and over again. Lets say I've found a movie in the US. I've looked for during a long period of time, in my frenzy of happiness I order it without realizing it's "Region 1", when I then 2 months later have it in my possesion I can't use it since my DVD/BluRay are made for the European market, whats the logic in that? Since this have happend to me I now download that movie instead of buying it which I would have done if I had the possibility.

I am a new file sharer. I am learning as I go. I have always believed that if you find something you like then you share it so the person you shared it with will usually continue the chain. I usually end up buying the item once I have downloaded it. There is nothing worse than buying something and then realizing it really wasn't worth the money spent and then you have no way to get rid of it. I just traded in 100 dvd movies, 50 books, and some music. I still have 6 bookshelves full of books and movies. So that is my humble opinion on the matter.

For me it depends on how important the torrent is to you. also considering if there is a lack of seeds.

i'm happy to report on the following torrents i've seeded for an extended period of time:

https://ca.isohunt.com/torrent_details/52948105/the+ren+stimpy+divin3?tab=summary 14.08 GB

https://ca.isohunt.com/torrent_details/49940097/whose+line+is+it+anyway?tab=summary [season 1 [excl. ep 1-4] season 3 [excl. ep 9] season 5-8] 9.10 GB

for a while now i've been trying to seed as much as i have downloaded. it started when i was running out of space on my HD. i did a good job on a lot of stuff, probably seed as much as 50GB. it was during that period i felt proud of myself.

Definitely because i want to try something before i buy.

You could say that one can try a "demo" (I'm mainly talking about video games here) before deciding if he wants to buy something but first of all demos are becoming a rarity these days.

Second: a demo-level taken out of the context often doesn't tell anything about the overall quality of the game, atmosphere, length and so on.

As far as software is concerned if there is a trial period with all the features enabled ... we're good. If not i might go the download route to see what the app can do without any restrictions.

Mostly now, I only download TV eps that I miss. I subscribe to cable TV, but miss a lot of stuff, so I download mostly what I miss. Lately anyway. Other than that, I dl what I want to try before buying. I haven't had a job for a few years, so pretty much no extra money after weed, LSD, and booze (I "make" the first and last, the LSD if I ever get a lab), but plan to buy a boatload of games, and a new PC, before long.

If above makes n o damn dsense, pardon me. I bneen drinking. lots.

I started P2P some times ago when it was Napster, the real first one. It was cool like a monster sharing place with lot of stuff we couldnt find anymore. In music I lost lot of music because the CD was up and vinyls stoped and it was real cool to find it back.
Then habit came and P2P become part of our cultural life or even life.
Hard to say only one reason : sometime we just try something, sometime we are just too broke to buy any, sometime it is just a bad habit and it is cool to get a movie or some CD.
The important I think is to continue to support the artists you like, go to the movies, concerts and buy some musics or movies when you can.
I dont use P2P to get programs or games so i dont talk about these.

4 years of using torrents and for the past 2 I have found myself to be uploading/releasing more than I download. I'm still a sucker for new big action movies and will grab them to watch on the monitor. Never bother with cams, rarely TS, but will go with dvd screeners, R5's (not R6's with the low bitrate and korean subs) and of course dvd or blu ray rips in the 2gb range. Preferably encoded with x.264 and in .mkv;

My seeding is pretty good I think! Laughing
