1) new pc has roxio creator but does not decrypt dvd's.
is there software that would dycrypt without all the dvd burning software associated or which would likely be better. if someone could tell me of a download location that would be great since i dont have the bittorrent software set up yet on this unit.

2) also, this pc already has "microsoft security essentials" real time av.
i have never used this type of av, anyone using this ? i usually run
avg free but since it already has a running av im not sure if i want to change .
thank you.

on the main computers i use avast internet security (paid for version)

i use MSE on the other computer along with just the regular windows firewall and i've not had any problems.

it doesn't use as much resources as norton that we get for free so everything seems to run a lot faster.

I seen MSE show up as an optional update the other day. I do believe I had this hidden, so am thinking MS , they must have made some changes to it to put it back out as a new update. What I am seeing different is now MSE does a check on your OS to make sure it's a valid install. If it doesn't pass the test MSE will only work for 30 days. Now reportedly from MS this will not cause any other issue's far as your OS if it doesn't pass the test, but be sure they will know. I haven't used MSE since more than a year ago, an don't remember the validation test being a part of it. Maybe this is nothing new, just wanted to put that little bit of info out there for those that dot like MS poking around in their machines to see if it's a valid install or not.

If you want to remove the copy protection from a dvd so you can make a back up, download DVD43 and that will let you treat copy protected dvd's as non-copyrighted. Wink
