I am looking for a good video downloader that actually works on Lynda.com

None of the 5 that I tried work. They all work fine on youtube but that is no use to me. I need something that works on lynda.com. If anyone wants to test, lynda.com has a few freebie vids on each course. So you can test without creating an account. I have an account there. My internet connection is flakey and the site is unbearably slow. I need a downloader :(

I used to have no problems. I think a recent flash player has made it more difficult.

Thanks in advance.

I use firefox addon "flash video downloader".

I just tested it on the website you asked about and it downloaded the video fine for me.

Im currently using version 3.6.2

So if you are a firefox user i would get that.

If you have an account on there chances are they have blocked most flash downloaders. This may work

Thanks Daister, I already have that plugin, and I have had the most success with it, but while I was able to download about 10 videos using this plugin, it seems to not work at all now. I don't know if they have some sort of detection software on the server, but I've tried it a couple of times a day and it's kaput now.

Trollster, I have installed Replay Media Catcher trial. It is awesome. I love it. I've tried other stand-alone desktop flash downloaders before, but they had annoying interfaces and most of them didn't work with Lynda.com - this one is the best for sure. That video search and music search looks very interesting.

I don't know if it will keep working with Lynda.com but lets hope so. Even if it doesn't, I think it's easily worth the license fee. Thanks for the tip! I want to be able to organise my clips and this software makes it painless. I like the fact that it installs itself as a network device. Makes it very powerful and not browser dependent. automatic transcoding and adding to itunes is a nice touch.

If anyone is reading this, NO, trollster and I are NOT getting commission for making favorable comments! I'm just happy to have my problems solved.

Cool. Never used that command before so I'll have to check it out at some point. I'm often running debian in VirtualBox on my windoze desktop.

ya should work in deb no problem. i tested on the site with ubuntu 12.04 which is debian. Once your used to doing it its really quick an easy, you just run the command and you will instantly know what info you need from the output Smile
If you like scripting im sure you could automate the whole thing with just a few lines of code
