I go for Open Source too - do you have a direct link |

In response to IsoHunt being blocked in some countries.
I have been using IsoHunt for a really long time and for the last two years i have been living in Spain and have had no problems with the site up until today. A new page opens with this message:
"Reported Attack Page!
This web page at ca.isohunt.com has been reported as an attack page and has been blocked based on your security preferences.
Attack pages try to install programs that steal private information, use your computer to attack others, or damage your system. Some attack pages intentionally distribute harmful software, but many are compromised without the knowledge or permission of their owners."
None of the buttons to get rid of the page work so all i can do is hit the back button to get out of it which takes me back to the IsoHunt page but i can't seem to download anything as of today without getting this message. I haven't changed anything in my computer regarding my security preferences!!
What's going on? Is there a way around this? I would hate to lose this fantastic site.

my boyfriend is currently working in abu dhabi.. just an hour from dubai.. he says that uae only has one isp, etisalat. and that isohunt is indeed blocked there. we haven't tried the alternate site though.
the only solution that we've come up with to fix this is i download the torrent file and save it in my computer, then i send the torrent file to him.. it's the only way that worked. |
Try using TOR network, That way you can access the website |

TOR was designed specifically for this kind of stuff. you just have to be able to trust all the members of the TOR circuit that you join into. |

Abu Dhabi ad Dubai are not blocked......it is the same situation as China.....
please always use https and never just http.
I was there for the air show recently and work in the emirates at least once generally twice a year. Never had a problem.
Many pages load with http......just check the address in the browser and add the "s" manually and the page will load properly. |

Interesting topic, I have to say I agree with johnno23 on this one, not that I am anywhere close to being a technical expert re anything internet, far from it. DNS, proxies.... yeah, no clue. But I too had the issue where my internet suddenly refused to download from IsoHunt, after many other users here tried to get my system working, "cbilljones" came to my rescue and was amazing. He spent 4 hours remotely on my computer and it was the silliest thing, all that was the problem (and cbill readily said that this is normally the first thing he checks, it must have been my winning personality that distracted him as we were chatting at the same time) was I had HTTP instead of HTTPS and wallah... problem solved. I'm still very appreciative of cbill taking 4 hours of his time for me.
So as a non expert, who has had a similar problem, HTTPS as mentioned by johnno23 works a treat, well it did for me anyway. I also have Peerblock and finally given that so many internet phrases and terms have been mentioned in this piece I looked up a couple of them and came across "Tor" which has also been mentioned in this thread, as with everything it has pro's and con's but it does sound like quite a good option/alternative for internet anonymity - In case anyone is interested I included the Wikipedia link
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tor_%28anonymity_network%29
Strangely it gets some of it's funding from the US State Department.
I also read that Etisalat is the 15th largest Mobile network operator in the world, gosh I wander if they start buying out other countries ISP's, if they will block sites in those countries too? |
