- You can use boolean operators (-, |, OR), wildcards (*, ?), and phrase search (") in your query
- For BitTorrent: Paste in a 40 characters info_hash, to search for that particular torrent and get all trackers for it

Just noticed the tipping point in browser stats for visitors to isoHunt. From Google Analytics:
| Code: |
Firefox
Sep 18, 2007 - Sep 24, 2007 45.84%
Sep 25, 2007 - Oct 1, 2007 46.19%
Internet Explorer
Sep 18, 2007 - Sep 24, 2007 46.42%
Sep 25, 2007 - Oct 1, 2007 46.07%
Opera
Sep 18, 2007 - Sep 24, 2007 3.89%
Sep 25, 2007 - Oct 1, 2007 3.79%
Safari
Sep 18, 2007 - Sep 24, 2007 2.82%
Sep 25, 2007 - Oct 1, 2007 2.91% |
Congrats to the Mozilla Foundation and Firefox team for pulling this off! Firefox users on isoHunt have now overtaken IE users, and I see the trend continuing in more Firefox adoption. The less reliance on standard non-compliant and malware-friendly IE, the better.
And while talking about browsers, a note for Firefox and Adblock users: I'd appreciate it if you exclude using Adblock on isoHunt and our other sites (Torrentbox, Podtropolis). We make best efforts in not showing intrusive or abusive ads, I hope you'd return similar courtesy. Our
legal costs
are mounting and we need the advertising dollars. Thanks |

Looks like I'm the first 2 post here...
OK I agree Firefox is the best. I have no way associated with Mozilla 2 write this , but it simply is the best. It has free addons like Adblock (this is a very good one, even if you shouldn't use it here), Stealther, etc. This is not an advert but an advice! I'd kick Microsoftie to anywhere, THEY WANT ME 2 PAY 4 ADDONS THAT MAKE THEIR browser usable. So let's get Firefox! |

I may note that I'm a Opera user (why use Firefox?) and have blocked everything named "Google", especially Google Analytics. Seriously, why would anyone want that?

Firefox being in the lead is great news indeed. I use Firefox as often as I can, only ever moving to the dark side for those (thankfully more and more rare) sites that insist on using IE extensions.
As for Adblock, I am a keen user, but upon reading the request to disable blocking on ISOHunt, I did so immediately.
Keep up the good work ISOHunt. |

What about those stupid, epilepsy causing, red/white alternating background ad's? Honestly, I wonder if someone could sue any of those companies... I can hear it now, "That ad gave me epileptic seizures, Now I'm a millionare!!!" Yay!!
PS, I too made isohunt avoiding url block will get you banned un-adblocked after reading... green ABP circle to prove it! |

I'd appreciate it if you stop selling ads that YELL in my ear, "CONGRATULATIONS YOU JUST WON AN IPOD!!!".
Damn. It practically knocks me out of my chair every time that happens. (Oh and before you tell me to turn down my volume, the downloaded movies are
quiet
in sound, and that's why I have the volume set so high.) The volume is set for my
very quiet
video and sound files, and then suddenly this ad starts YELLING at maximum volume. Ouch.
There's really no reason why ads need to have sound.
Refuse to accept those types of ads.
Also:
My enthusiasm about the good news of Firefox is tempered by my knowledge that Internet Explore still controls almost 80%
of the market (see the external links provided by wikipedia here Web_browsers ) |

As per request I have disabled ABP on all your domains, however is it too much to ask for you to get rid of the "Congratulations you have won a free iPod/nano/X/Y/Z" adds? They're really doing a number on my ear drums. After all, it was the iPod adds that forced me to install ABP in the first place.
edit: I almost forgot, GO FIREFOX! =) |

Might I just remind everyone that these reported site statistics are of a very specific demographic, i.e. people who use BitTorrent, know how to use BitTorrent, and know that isoHunt is
THE
site for torrents.
Many users still use IE and as a matter of fact, IE7 gives many of them a safe, snuggly feeling inside, so they refuse to switch. I highly doubt that 50% of the elderly folks I dole out tech support to (and those I don't) have switched to an alternative browser.
Just a bit of a reality check. ^_^
Vive le Firefox![/i] |

the internet is free? im sure it isnt cheap for gary to keep this place up and running especially with the legal woes... either way... i was guilty of havin the adblock plus on... im now allowing ads until i pay the piper tomorrow, which is something i shoulda done awhile ago anyways...
edited to add:
i do despise the ads with audio though... despise isnt a strong enough word... |

I don't know Opera. I only know Netscape, Exploder, and Firefox. Firefox provides an advantage over those other browsers because:
- it uses tab browsing to keep all the pages in the same window
- it has a real-time spell checker which I've found very useful
- nearly all the Spambots and Adware attacks are focused on Explorer - Firefox is relatively immune. |
