Ratio fservs a thing of the past?

I remember a time when I used to download lots of "adult" content from IRC from fserv scripts with upload/download ratios.

Now everybody has switched to leach fservs that provide the same stale content for months at a time with NOTHING new.

Why does everybody hate the ratio fservs? Are they gone forever?

I don't think its everyone hating them so much as it is the technology just being outdated.

I, too, can remember days of sitting on dialup waiting for those damned DCC's to finish, only for the bot to die at 98% and never come back. =\

I think stuff like that is what likely lead to the decline in usage, and thus people stopping them altogether.. (though I've still seen a couple around here and there)..

Torrents, and other similar technologies just make things so much simpler. No need to monitor users, monitor uploaded content, etc etc etc..
