Right now I see that many people migrate to other countries to study or to work. I just wonder do you love your country? Would you stay there for rest of your life? When I look in the past, I see brave people who took a risk with their life to save and defend their land. So, are we still so patriotic?

I am not patriotic at all.
I lived abroad a few times and after a few years I felt a little homesick but I dont think I missed "my country".
I just missed my friends and how much easier things are when you are in a country where people speak the same language as you.

only hungry for power thats it....the only thing i like here is my home state

Many people from punjab immigrate to foreign lands...i wonder i can also get my immigration to some foreign land...but then the immigration rules have become really strict after 9/11.

I am from the US and i find i am not that patriotic about my country. I personally believe, anything my country was once founded for was lost. My home is here, my family and friends are here. I am ashamed of the choices that have been made for me and i do not feel a majority of the people in my country are being honestly represented. I have family that has died for this country, but i won't.

I would love to live abroad one day.

I consider myself a patriot, though my allegiance is to the peoples, not the bit of dirt they happen to live on. I won't fight to promote or protect their interests, because it isn't their interests, but rather the interests of a few manipulative megalomaniacs. But I will fight & die to protect their physical safety, if need be. I'd lay down my life for their political safety as well, if only they wanted to be free. But they don't, so it would be a waste of my life.

I'm from the Netherlands. And nothing patriotic about this country. We tend to complain about everything, especially the weather. Would trade this country for another in a heartbeat.

well...they say a woman's intuition is always right...or something like that Confused

but u r right...america started out as a "rebel" nation...rebelling against the tyranny of the power and money hungry aristrocacy and government of britain, who would even tax air...

but history repeats itself...now the US government is slowly stripping away the freedom given by its constitution...US government is slowly becoming tyrannous...in fact its so slowly becoming tyrannous that it is very difficult to detect it.

The american union, asian union???...what the f***s going on??? no one asked me if i wanted some f**kin union??? i want the constitution of my country to be in its place...not be dissolved because some f**kin union is formed and my constitution has become void.

PATRIOTIC??? Lets see u get all patriotic when theres no f**kin countries left!!! Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad
I AM SURELY PATRIOTIC but about my country, but not my government. Why am i typing this crazy stuff? u ask??

its because i am slowly going paranoid over all this conspriracy stuff...that have seen in documentaries...i dont know if all the film makers sat down together and said "lets make a series of documentaries and point to the same thing...again and again and again..." or something...but seeing those movies....man....i feel so hopeless about this world man...now that i know that there is a possiblilty of threat on my freedom i realise how important they are and a bunch of rich old psychopath want to take that away from me...its not only concerning america or britain or canada or australia or france or germany or cuba or china or japan, but its concerning the whole world...

now i dont want to take this thread off topic...so if u really wanna know what i am taking about plz view the thread titled "Zeitgeist Movie! o.O"

(no mods this is not some kind of publicity stunt...what would i get by pulling a stunt???...i really want just want ppl to know about what might be the truth...i dont know for sure if its the truth but ppl should know about this stuff...its for their own good)

I'm saddened that so few people feel any warmth about their country.

Why does it always go back to government? The question wasnt 'Are you supportive of your present government' The question was 'Are you proud of who you are and the nation to which you contribute'.

It's demoralising to say the least that most folk consider it negative to be patriotic. It's not about being proud of your country but more about being proud of yourself.

I'm a believer that there is far more good and pleasant and honourable things in the world than bad. And as far as conspiracies go they are primarily invented to sell books and make some shrewd people lots of money from other people with gaping voids in their lives.

Patriotism is just another word for Nationalism, or Fascism. No one need feel proud for being a citizen of the country of their birth. Do I feel proud to be an Australian? No. I feel lucky , yeah, sure, but proud? No.

Too many governments take advantage of their population's simple-minded pride in their country to achieve dark ends. Arrogant pride in one's own country sounds a lot like the old "My make believe friend is better than yours." That is, ridiculous.

Patriotism, like any fundamentalist doctrine, is evil.

I joined the Army of my country, so I guess that qualifies me to say yes.
