Ubuntu Linux 7.10 Gutsy Gibbon. I use Mplayer on command line and for audio I use Rhythmbox and for IM I use Pidgin and for my torrent I use Deluge. And for my music downloading I use gtk-gnutella. And the program I use to guard my computer is the built in firewall and Moblock in terminal or command line. Why I use it because I like the combination of a GUI with command line so I have a bit of both with Linux.

Windows XP home edition. It's pretty basic, but with enough apps. you can really pimp it out. It's also the widest used OS for now.

And for the foreseable future. Less than 0.5% of the pc user population use Linux. Windows on the other hand accounts for 97%. The rest, Mac users.

I've become a huge fan of black xp, or a simple xp sp2 install with rocket dock, I'm currently on a dual boot because this new machine has 8800gtx's in sli but I only use the vista boot side for crysis and ut3 gaming.

w3schools only collects data from visitors to their site. OneStat Webmetrics (which compiles results from many sites) reports XP usage on the net as 87.36%, Vista 3.23% and a total Windows usage of 96.72% inclusive, down from 96.97% in 2006.

OK lets see, you believe the numbers from the log files from only that one site who will have one particular type of visitor and reject the numbers from a well used webmetrics company whos numbers are an accumulated total from a multitude of sites with a variety of visitors relevent to the sites they are visiting? Bit ignorant dont you think? Laughing

Heres another source:
http://www.thecounter.com/stats/ (Feb '08 Windows usage at least 92%)

I'd ask you for another, but you dont have one.

There are three kinds of computer users,
Those who support lame no game playing macs
Those who support PC's with all their flaws
And those who just can't make themselves care anymore
I am the later of those three.

The thing that really gets me after all this time is that MAC advertises their Computers like they are part of some sort of social movement that will make everyone happy and hip. It's a machine for the love of god, and I'm personally just not ready to invest myself that heavily in a product.
And even though I'm a pc user because I prefer to have a selection of games I can't count on my fingers. I realize they have their own set of short comings and problems.
Truth be told anyone that thinks their system is the end all be all of computing is deluding themselves and just needs to come to terms with the fact that nothing in this world is perfect. If your a audio/video geek a MAC may very well be the best thing for you, but people are different and if you like gaming and the ability to customize your machine and upgrade it without replacing the entire unit, then more than likely the PC is the way to go for you. There's a learning curve and a set of problems you have to learn to deal with either way.
So regardless of what you believe in this whole mix and what the numbers mean to you as some sort of proof your personal choice IS THE CHOICE.
Just get over it, this isn't a freaking holy war...

I love linux, but I use Windows as well. If games were made in openGL (which is much better than directX, windows just tries to push it away), and the majority of hardware was supported for linux, I would probably switch fully to it. Until then I will have to continue to dual boot Smile

I use Windows XP Home Edition SP3. Rolling Eyes

I like Windows but i don't like the price for it. Evil or Very Mad

If they whould drop the price or give a free upgrade from XP to Vista as you pay all that money for the software in the first place. Twisted Evil

It's not about the software anymore it's about the money, more profit less free stuff for the people. Wink
