I was wondering what the best software for music studio work is.....for mixing making beats ......not cutting and pasting mp3s.....but editing tracks.....can someone help me?

Try Audacity, it works for me. Download the extra extentions for it as well, then you can save you edited song as an MP3 Very Happy

You need Reason 4.0 to make beats no doubt.

for editing and stuff like that get Audition or Pro Tools.

For mixing music and editing tracks you may look out FlexiMusic Wave Editor , for making music you can check out FlexiMusic Composer . Both are quiet well for the job.

If you need to start out slow, you can learn on fruity loops.

me persoanlly i've tried reason and couldn't get a sound out of it so I got pissed and erased it

I have been using Digi Design's Pro Tools for ages now, but am seriously thinking about switching to Logic Pro 8 permanently. I use a Mac Intel and it seem like Digi and Mac are becoming more and more NON-compatible.

Logic is half the price, no annoying large external interfaces, and is extremely easy to use. Try Logic - it might be what you're looking for. Hope this helps!
