wasn't the internet made to protect against being shut down? pretty much everyone would go insane after a year, its just not plausible.

Nobody has ever 'shut down' the internet, least of all the Melissa virus. It only affected compromised, weak servers & computers, and banks/schools got affected due to dumb employees opening random attachments from strangers.

Antivirus software these days is a professional business, if there's a new big virus, there are already thousands of companies ready to fix the flaw within minutes. Such a big scale virus spreading to all the computers in the world is impossible in 2008. People are now more cautious towards spam & very few people don't have antivirus software...

Maybe.... But that kind of thing is impossible, I mean, Hello it's the "INTERNET" INTER Means many things i'm gonna point out one and that's what I believe. Again INTER means "Interconnection". "NET" Means "Network" so combine the two words together: "Interconnection Network or Interconnection of Networks
