Good evening minions.

I've been using tor-proxy (Vidalia bundle) for a couple of months now with no problem but 2 days ago, out of the blue s p e e d - g o t - r e a l l y s l o w....

I've been looking at what else is available and only found 1 other widely used variation of the same theme, Hide my IP 2007.

What does everyone out there use to keep PRIVATE information private?

Please, don't comment on PG2 or ipfilter.dat. I use them (don't we all!). I'm only interested in how to 'cloak', hide, disguise, 'ghost' or otherwise anonymise my IP adress explicitly.

Does Casper do one? Laughing

EDIT: Are Hide My IP and Hide IP (both platinum or not) the same program? i've searched through the isohunt toolbar but can't get a clear answer.

Ultrareach has come out with a lightweight (no install required), fast and free program to access the internet through proxy called Ultra Surf. I quote their website:
http://www.ultrareach.com/company/download.htm wrote:

UltraSurf is the flagship software product from UltraReach Internet Corp. for Internet anti-censorship. It enables users inside countries with heavy Internet censorship to visit any public web sites in the world safely and freely.

As the safety and convenience of the users is our first priority, the most prominent features of UltraSurf 8 are that it has implemented a complex proxy with complete transparency and a high level of encryption on the Microsoft Internet Explorer (IE) platform. UltraSurf 8 enables users to browse any website freely just the same as using the regular IE browser while it automatically searches the highest speed proxy servers in the background.

UltraSurf 8 implements almost all browser functions based on HTTP and user needs, such as browsing websites, login and posting on web forums, using Web mail, uploading and downloading data files, real time audio, video and other multimedia programs, etc. Please refer to the “UltraSurf 8 Users Guide” for detailed information.

UltraSurf 8 is a green software, which means no installation process is needed nor system setting is required to change when using the software. It is simply an executable on Windows platform.

I don't think it works for torrents but I use it for web browsing at my school to avoid the filter. Works like a charm.

No need to cover my IP since I do all my downloading at work and leave regular internet use to my home PC.

I wouldn't know what I prefer so "I'll stick with None of the Above for 200"

One thing to try would be to re-start your browser.

Once i do this it doesn't show my real IP.

proxies are useless.
http://isohunt.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=124844&highlight=pissed

if you're running one, go to www.whatismyipaddress.com
it will tell you your real ip

and proxies don't work with p2p traffic...it still uses your PC's ip address

Yeah... and I'm not deluded into thinking you can be totally protected... usually people want "the easy way out" when it comes to stuff... like me just settling for PG2... of course, computer programmers can override that pitiful defense no problem by using a neutral IP...

So you are never totally protected, unless you make your own OS and software and monitor 24/7 the hacker/surveillance technology...

May not be a bad idea with the recent problems I've been having.

slight off topic, this has nothing to do with ips ect, but Ive been playing with this lately http://www.winpatrol.com/ dont know yet if its overall performance is any good, but it has a neat littl feature of this little dog called scotty who pops up and barks if somthing trys to install/alter start up changes without your say so. just thought I would drop that in incase someone was interested

Ryan, I checked out your website.
Good job!
The proxy browser is fast and returned a false IP... very nice.
Your anonymous email included no ads or links, cool.
The link anonymizer could use some work though, I can easily see the source.
