Hey guys, new member here.

I am currently downloading LOTR - Return of the King from this site, with about 22 hours remaining....at the top of the download window it says LotR-Return Of the King - TELESYNC - loGisTic - BitTorrent 3.3

IS THIS REAL? The movie hasnt even been released yet, but most likely is this a real working file? 3134.8MB so its a DVD quality movie??!
I had no idea this could be done. I'm sick of downloading the fake DIVX ones on Kazaa, this is amazing.
How is this done? Is it a camera version that they take into the theater?

thanks! Very Happy

The file is most probably rooted from an academy awards screening.

Members of the academy are sent copies of movies well in advance of their video release, and sometimes before even their theater release.

This is so that the voters (Usually celebrities) can watch every single one and decide whether they will vote for it in any different category.

I know all this because a family member is a member, and I must say it is quite nice to be able to go over to his place and watch all of the new releases without spending eighteen dollars in the theater.

I think it may be a little irrespoonsible of the academy members to be trading their copies of the movies illegally though.

it's likely a SVCD direct rip. It's TS (telesync) which is better than Cam quality, but it's not DVD quality. Screeners (SCR) would be high quality.

The way torrents work is there has to be a website hosting the .torrent hash files and ususally is a community around the site hosting it (here for example). So it's easy to report which are fake and if I know of one, I'll delete it here. So you are almost guaranteed no fakes. And the speed is usually faster than any "mainstream" p2p (kazaa, and don't talk about edonkey, the speed and queue is horrible)

Yes it is ROTK and yes it is too good to be true.

With torrent as IH mentioned people are uploading specific files they have created. Unlike Kazaa where your uploads come from a 'pool' folder of uploads. As a resulf fake files are no existent virtually (never had a fake file yet) cos why waste valuable bandwidth uploading a specific fake file (come all people will do is say avoid that torrent and it uploads no more.)

The logistic Ts isnt a true Telesync (just My opinion) the picture is awesome but the sound is only average (there is a hiss throughout the movie) It is a good version.

Let us know what you think (if it was too good to be true) in about 7 hours by my reckoning!!

Oh and welcome

Myself, I like kazza for certain things, maybe because it was my first p2p expierience. I didn't get into until Nabster was being dragged into court. But there are almost no games there that work, and how could you get them to work with out forums.
It's also a lot easier to share, mind you I almost dont look at kazza since I came across bit-torrent a couple months ago. Razz
