I'm very disappointed to hear that design 16 won. Hopefully 31 gets printed on a t-shirt so I can buy one.

I hope everyone whose design gets used will receive some sort of prize for their efforts?

prize: hundreds, maybe thousands, of people wearing your design.

prize: feeling good about supporting your favorite free website.

As I updated in my original post, both #16 and #31 will be used for front and back of t-shirt. Everyone's happy Wink

Shirts will be printed on dark colors, if it's not black the black background in above previews will be whatever the base color of the shirts are. I'm waiting for update from the manufacturer, I'll update when I know a date for when the shirts will be available.

You can't please everyone. The 2 designs have different colored backgrounds and they don't match together at all (they are both really different designs) IMHO.

Was it the evil plan all along? I mean... I'm happy the design I wanted won but... I thought there would be 2 t-shirts.

It just lost a certain appeal to me, you know?

if sales will justify it, we'll be splitting out to 3-4 t-shirts and at least one sweatshirt, and btw, it took IH and i about an hour and a half to settle on what you see there.

Why not just make t-shirts of the top 3 shirts, and then if the demand is high enough for sweatshirts make a sweatshirt of all of them as well -- and match the colors as closely as possible to the original design. If you guys want my business (this isn't a threat) then make the shirt I voted into it's own shirt, not a combination.

Basic economics: we're not sure if there's enough demand to justify increasing the available supply of t-shirts. More than likely, we're going to have to commit to a certain number of shirts, and since we're not sure how many people will be buying, it doesn't make sense to have a thousand shirts printed so you can have one and stick us with the bill for the other 999.

So basically if you want a shirt that isn't what we've officially sanctioned... you can either show your support by buying this shirt and having your friends buy them too so we can actually split the t-shirt lines out... OR... you can make your own.

I agree, both designs are good but if you put them together no one will want the result. If you have to print 1000 shirts cant you just do 500 of 1 and 500 of the other (or a different proportion according to the relative popularities)?

Or is there a large cost for setting up the system to print a given design?

Or even just print #16 and forget my design - i really think the mixed design is a case of too many chefs spoiling the broth.

I've requested the designs be separated into 2 shirts, printed on respective fronts, I'll update on the possibility. No promises though.

Personally I don't find the styles of the 2 designs to be too different, and I don't see having them on front and back to be a problem. But that's just me.
