When I'm downloading music the speed is approx 8kbs which seems very slow, any ideas on how to speed this up. I've got 2mb broadband

Thanks

if you want to download super fast like at speeds of 70 or 150 kb/s than ill tell you how.......

1. use azureus

2. go to "Tools" than "Options" click "Files" than "Peformance Options" than you will see a few options under freindly hash checking with boxes and numbers next to them..... first box put 50 the next box will be 0 and next box will be 0

3. while downloading a torrent right click on the downloading torrent, than click on "Advanced" than click on "Set up speed" than put 5.5 kb/s

4. right click on the torrent file while downloading than click on "Advanced" than "set down speed" and click 200kb/s

And there you have it trust me i got a adsl 1.5 mb modem and its going super fast im enjoying it lol..........

As I said in the other thread this does not always work and sometimes your download speed is effected by how much you actually allow for upload. If it does work as it may in some torrents it would be nice to turn your upload speed allowance back up after you complete in order to allow others who want the file some decent bandwidth instead of just taking and not helping the rest of the peers. It would then help speed everybody up! Too many people are just concentrating on downloading and not giving a shit about others after. Hope MOST people agree with this?

2mb broadband. That's what your ISP advertisers. Thats ok, but that is the DOWNLOAD speed. You never mentioned, may not know what your UPLOAD speed is.

Most people are used to clicking a link and having a dedicated server somewhere GIVE them the file. Faster DL speed, the faster is arrived. But NOONE was offering HUGE files because of thier bandwidth costs.

Bittorrent has throttle controls built into the protocol. Not very fast UL (not sharing) meanes that you won't get a good DL speed.

DSLReports/speedtest will tell you how fast both your DL/UL speeds are. Remember to divide that number by 8 (to convert bites/sec to bytes/sec)

Another factor is the swarm speed (or how FAST others are DL/UL this particular torrent). Each torrent has its own speed, based on if FAST or SLOW users are currently connected. I can get speeds of 150KB/s when DLing TWiT or diggnation because the people that watch those podcasts don't have DEFAULT bittorrent client settings.
