Hey, I've got a problem and it would be really nice if someone could help me.

I recently switched from bittorrent to utorrent, so deleted bittorrent, downloaded utorrent, but when I try to download a torrent, it says something along the lines of, "the torrent file could not be opened, because the associated helper application does not exist. Change the association in your preferences."

I'm assuming i had my preferences so that bittorrent would download the torrent files, but now since i have deleted it and switched to utorrent, it can't find the right application to use. Could anybody tell me how to change my preferences so that i download torrent files with utorrent?

I prefer Azures Vuze, I get speeds of around 60KB/s as opposed to 20KB/s in uTorrent.

I used azureus for the first yr or so of DLin' an i woulda swore by it but then i tried utorrent an' now would never go back. I guess unless you try different clients you will never know what you prefer. If you try utorrent an' dont like it after a coupla weeks then it's easy just to switch back, eh?

Dont be afraid to try somethin' new.

I have used µTorrent (with wine), and also KTorrent.
They are both equal in the up/down department.

One thing I like to do sometimes (to minimise cpu usage) is just use an old networked computer and use a command line download:
(i.e. at prompt: btlaunchmanycurses.bittornado /mnt/torrent/folder --saveas /mnt/music/folder )

With wine ? Are you trying to run it in Linux or in Mac?

If in Mac then there is an official Mac version as I read the command line I think it's linux Wink

Couldn't you just right click on it and choose which application to open it with ie.utorrent ?!
