Hi everyone, I’ve written a simple ipfilter updater for utorrent.

This simple utility can be used to automatically update your p2p level 1 IP filter for µtorrent, it does all the hard work for you, all you need to do is click update.

Scheduling
You can use the Windows Task Scheduler to run the updater once a day (once a day is the most you should update, so as to not abuse the blocklist service). To do so, simply create a schedule task and use the -auto parameter when entering in execution details and the program will auto-update and close once completed.

Image Download Now Updated 0.4
Code:
http://www.fear-otaku.org/filterupdater/ipfilter_setup.exe

Changelog for latest
Code:
0.3 to 0.4
 - added ability to update portable installations (specify path)
 - added ability to disable logging (disabled by default)
 - improved file copy method for faster I/O
 - improved error logging (a little more verbose)
 - fixed 0 ips loaded in utorrent ipfilter issue (Fixed Convert Function)
 - fixed uTorrent not restarting under Windows XP
 - fixed unable to write to Program Files under Vista / 7
 - fixed issue with not reading settings
 - fixed an error on extracting the blocklist (gZipDeflate wasn't closing file)
 - fixed some gramatical and spelling mistakes (log file)
 - fixed uTorrent location being blank on start up
 - fixed visit website url (scalpers took my fear-otaku.com domain)

Requires the Microsoft .Net framework 3.5

Does this work with vista because allot of ones are having problems with PeerGuardian that have vista and that tool you made would come in handy for them ?

Actually made it when i was running windows 7 Laughing so works on that and vista 100% as i tried it on my laptop too which is vista and works, not sure about xp.

My only issue is utorrent not reloading the filter once you update, but should have something sorted by next update Smile

And some more reliable lists too...

You'll need to close and re-open utorrent for it to use the updated filter, im working on fixing this, most likely by doing the utorrent restart for you as I don't think there is any other way.

just run the FilterUpdater.exe after you extract it.

Hopefully fear-otaku will put it into an installer package. Hint Hint.

Is there a need for one? Maybe once it's a bit more mature

I'm working on being able to use gzip encoded lists atm for the ones like bluetack and i-blocklist. If you know of any decent lists please let me know Smile

I think so that way it has a place to put the log.txt and the ipfilterdat files that it made on my desktop (Where I ran it from). It's not a problem for me to make a program folder and shortcut to run it with, It just looks more professional in an installer package. Just a suggestion.

i-blocklist is the only one i use.
