I am puting together an auto installation package for Windows, Freak Install. Freak Install will be an iso image with several applications. You will start one program(Freak Install), choose the apps you wish to install (or install all of them). The utility will automaticly install all the applications you specify without prompting the user for information. Dialogs, serials, and cracks are a thing of the past.
EDIT: On a side note, after I release Freak Install v1.0, I will start working on a Mac version.
I want help from the community, tell me what programs you want included on this disk. Think of the all programs you install every time you format a pc.
Applications planed to be included in Freak Install v1.0
Note: I will update this list as suggestions are made.
Note: All programs will be the newest possible release, unless the latest version hasn't been cracked.
ACDSee Pro
Adobe Photoshop CS4
Auslogics Boostspeed
AVG Free
CCleaner
CDisplay
ConvertXtoDVD
Daemon Tools Pro
Diskeeper 2009
DVDFab
DVD Shrink

I plan to release v1.0 very soon depending on the amount of application requests I get.
I will accept new application requests, and update all applications for every revision of Freak Install. |

Is it possible, correct me if I'm wrong, that some of these application are redundant and have very similar uses? And also, Open Office would be nice. |

Some are applications with similar uses, however people have their preference, and each application has their strong points. For instance I only planed on putting WinRAR in at first but someone from Demonoid requested winzip, so i included them both. So if you see an app above that's similar don't hesitate to request.
With that said, Open Office will now be included. |

Allot of the programs on that list are updated all the time like
CCleaner ConvertXtoDVD Firefox Foxit PDF Reader PowerISO uTorrent
and you would need to make a allot of releases..I think i will stick to single torrents for some and the official sites for others...Programs I don't really need updates for I have a External Hard Drive for them or I burn them to a disk |

True some applications are updated alot, However free ones like firefox, foxit and so on can update themselves. However, I have an update system in the works, where i can release individual pakages, and Freak will search for these pakages (if you choose to do so upon install).
So if theres an update to poweriso, we'll release an update for it on the torrents. like: poweriso.4.5.freak, and because we individually repack / remake all the installs, you are always guaranteed a virus free, Trojan free, install that you know will work. Oh, and in our tests so far, we've had installations up to 30% faster than the original installer packages.
There are also plans (in a later release) to release Freak Builder, which you can download only pakages you want and build your own disk.
So as a recap here is what we eventualy plan to release:
Freak Install - The main utility to install your applications, and freak products.
Note: we will release a standalone version that you do not need to burn to a CD/DVD.
Simply download Freak Install and start installting your programs.
You can even download them on the fly.
Freak Update - Update your applications before and after installation
Note: That this can also be installed on your system, and update already installed packages with the click of a button.
No more searching and downloading new torrents to update your applications.
Freak Builder - To build your own custom Freak CD/DVD images. |

AVG Free
CCleaner
DVD Shrink
Firefox
Foxit PDF Creator
Foxit PDF Editor
Foxit PDF Reader
FrostWire
K-Lite mega codec pack
Spybot Search & Destroy
uTorrent
VLC Media Player
are all free and/or open source, hence would not only be a waste of time but also stupid |

It's not a mater of finding the software its a mater of automation, You choose what to install and wallk away. downloading individually you install every program manually.
Would you rather download say FireFox every time there was an update or would you want it to update itself(how it does now). We all love automation, and we all end of reformatting our boxes, or if your like me countless number of friends boxes. so its good to have everything in once place ready for install without you babying the whole process.
Myself i just make a ghost of my system and restore whenever i feel its needed. But even then, having the update utility to update all your software automatically without you thinking about it. even programs on torrents (cracked).
We live in an automation time, I pull my hair out every time I have someone come to me to format their system and install programs. this will make it 100x easier.

What would you include if you where building it? Foxit PDF Creator and Foxit PDF Editor are not free, however Foxit PDF Reader is. But none the less there will be a good bit of free/open source software included. I've gotten a pretty good response on other forums. all the software in the list where added by people on forums. It's what they want in Freak. After all its about what the users want.

Just to clarify, before the installation begins the user gets to choose from a list which software(s) he wants installed along with the OS. Like a list of check boxes. Is that the basic idea ? |

Downloading free and/or open source software from a torrent is a stupid idea pure and simple, I would never recomend anyone ever doing it. |
