My opinion in this case is:
I think you can have alot of things with money, and it is in a kind of way a key to the happiness. But you cant buy love with money. They say Money destroys people, i believe in that and when the time goes by you get greedier and greedier... |

I think this hit it on the nail : http://www.melvindurai.com/happy.htm
It's entitled, HAPPINESS DOESN'T NEED TO COST MUCH
After reading this, my view is that, yes money can buy things, but money isn't what makes you happy, it's what you can experience in life and how these experiences make you feel.
You can fill a pool up with 100$ bills and swim in it if it will make you happy, but so will watching tv with a loved one. The more money you spend on your life does not mean the happier you will be, but it does mean you will have a more happy life than a bum living in a dumpster. |

$$$$ seems like everything in life as everyone everywhere is going after it. It is a race to the top and winner takes all.
Money may not buy happiness as constant fear of losing it or having it stolen may cause more than a cardiac arrest.
Having money may not be everything
But not having money is nothing. Without it nobody can live here.
That is the bare fact and one should face it.
Everybody needs it, so they go after it.
But I'd rather prefer being moderately rich and happy, than being stinking rich and miserable. |

I think if you grew up relatively poor, and then you became some company owner or something and became a billionnaire, that would be the best.
You'd have been poor before, so you'd understand how the world works without money, and your personality wouldn't have grown up with greed. Once you got the money, you'd be able to do all the things you never would have been able to do while poor, but you'd still be the same person.
I think money can buy happiness if you can be strict about it, and not just spend it on anything.. |

Uhm.. I'd say if you give a shit about your world, money equals bad conscience.
I'd much rather be happy, strong & poor than loaded & guilty as hell.

Do millionaires and billionares have the obligation to spred their wealth to people who have nothing, and make as many other people happy with their aquired wealth as possible? I'd say so, but I'm poor; the other side of the argument would be that, they earned this money with hard work and determaination so they have no obligation but to themselves, we live in a competitive world so everyman for themselves.
In a perfect world, if everyone only bought what they
needed
instead of $10,ooo shower curtains and used the rest of their money making other people aquire their needs, everyone would be happy and nothing would be wrong. |

they say that money's the root of all evil, but thats not really true, but if you've got too little or you've got too much, it'll bring out the worst in you....Clarence Clemmons and the red bank rockers said it, I'M just passing it onjavascript:emoticon('')

Interesting little thing I came across the other day
| IF THE WORLD WERE A VILLAGE OF 100 PEOPLE wrote: |
In the world today, more than 6 billion people live.
If this world were shrunk to the size of a village of 100 people, what would it look like?
59 would be Asian
14 would be American (North, Central and South)
14 would be African
12 would be European
1 would be from the South Pacific
50 would be women, 50 would be men
30 would be children, 70 would be adults.
70 would be nonwhite, 30 would be white
90 would be heterosexual, 10 would be homosexual
33 would be Christians
21 would be Moslems
15 would be Hindus
6 would be Buddhists
5 would be Animists
6 would believe in other religions
14 would be without any religion or atheist.
15 would speak Chinese, Mandarin
7 English
6 Hindi
6 Spanish
5 Russian
4 Arabic
3 Bengali
3 Portuguese
The other would speak Indonesian, Japanese,
German, French, or some other language.
In such a village with so many sorts of folks, it would be very important to learn to understand people different from yourself and to accept others as they are. Of the 100 people in this village:
20 are underonurished
1 is dying of starvation, while 15 are overweight.
Of the wealth in this village, 6 people own 59% (all of them from the United States), 74 people own 39%, and 20 people share the remaining 2%.
Of the energy of this village, 20 people consume 80%, and 80 people share the remaining 20%.
20 have no clean, safe water to drink.
56 have access to sanitation
15 adults are illiterate.
1 has an university degree.
7 have computers.
In one year, 1 person in the village will die, but in the same year, 2 babies will be born, so that at the year's end the number of villagers will be 101.
If you do not live in fear of death by bombardment, armed attack, landmines, or of rape or kidnapping by armed groups, then you are more fortunate than 20, who do.
If you can speak and act according to your faith and your conscience without harassment, imprisonment, torture or death, then you are more fortunate than 48, who can not.
If you have money in the bank, money in your wallet and spare change somewhere around the house, then you are among the richest 8.
[The statistics were derived from Donella Meadows "State of the Village Report" first published in 1990] |

For me, my education beats money. Now I know you can practically buy an education these days, but if i could only have one of them, it be education.
For everything else, i honestly dont know, because Ive never really had money so i dont know what it is like to squalor in it.
Although the rich do tend to be assholes... |

I accturly know iahag and i agree knoledge is important but i believe dat money can not buy happyness, it is a means to an ends.
Tru happyness comes from achievement and education and hard work which is why being a christian I am happy a lot of da time I have money but i dnt need it and wud easily give it away and do so this isn't a pick up line to make people feel guilty its just to say that money if not critisied will make someone cold and lonly and they will not achieve because they will have nothing to aim for. When i say rich i mean million and billionaires.
People who are well off always have something to aim for. the endless effect of trying to survive and have faith in things and a GOD means that the person is rich in a different way and spiritual way because a person call always improve their spirituality. |

Im certanly happy to hear that from a christian. Im a muslim and i have lived in a society where money did not have a god-like importance. My problem is that im only 15 and still undecided on my career. Should i focus on what i love?, or should i focus on what brings more money? NOw living in a North-American society my opinions keep changing every day. If you try to convince some people who are born in this culture aroud me, that money is not everything, they'll think you're not smart. The reason why that happens is because these people have nothing to compare to. They may be atheist or have never lived in a third world country.
Religion is an important(and dangerous) aspect of a healthy life and mind(depending on how people interpret religion).
.........I cant seem to find the right words to get to my point , so thats all i had to say........ |
