Graphics card help needed

can someone help me out here. i need to know how to know and see a good graphics card. i mean what are the factors that determine a good graphics card. what is the basic difference between all these cards that have very small price difference like1$ or so.

DVI = Digital Visual Interface , a digital interface standard to convert analog signals into digital signals to accommodate both analog and digital monitors including LCD monitors. Theres more, probally best to Google to get all the information on DVI.
Overclocking is the ability to make your video card run faster than it would normally. Some overclocking utilities allow you to open up some pipes that are shut down by default on the lower rated cards. Remember like CPU's overclocking can cause overheating. Usually a card is overclocked till it starts to have artifacts, then backed off till it runs well.

the problem is i never seem to find the answers for questions like these. anyhow i think i need to take lessons...... and one last doubt. i know my motherboard has an AGP slot. i just wanted to know if any AGP card will suit every AGP slot. some tips pls.....

i have another doubt now...... can i use an AGP card with DVI to work with my normal CRT monitor?
