I received an email last week from my internet provider relating to copyright infringment. I was told to download the peerblocker and that would block my provider from watching me. My question is how do I know it's blocking them from seeing what I am downloading? Too cautious to download now. I have vista 64 |

Nothing is a 100% safe your ISP can see all... Peer block will help you can also set utorrent protocol encryption good luck

I had an ISP who was insane about monitoring me and it was getting worse... So I used TOR http://www.torproject.org/ for most of my internet but p2p wasn't in the question.
The best option if you have gutter trash ISP is to either change providers to somebody who cares for consumer privacy laws or get an encrypted Proxy like BTGUARD http://www.btguard.com/.
That said I do recall someone asking that question on Peerguardian2 forums @ phoenix labs about a month ago and it wasn't given very much thought before the answer was given that it would indeed block them..
The one problem I saw with the logic applied there was simple. If you block your ISP you will not get an internet connection.
In your case I would try getting a different ISP or an encrypted proxy.
I changed my ISP because I wasn't going to pay them to spy on me!
Thetazzzz is almost right on his post. Most ISP won't bother an encrypted connection http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BitTorrent_protocol_encryption used by bittorrent.. But mine did and the letters came weekly.
Its never a good idea to put a band-aid on a broke arm.
If your ISP is in the business of tapping your lines to threaten you!
You shouldn't line there pockets with money to do so more efficiently.
Change providers!!! |

If its a consistent issue post it in the peerblock support thread with logs and conf files from the apps directory. This way it will help us trouble shoot the problem better...

It might be that a firewall is preventing the app from connecting to the net.
Check both Windows Firewall and any other firewall your system might have.
Our servers are working and the app has a simple call to the update server. So I would suspect that it would be a firewall rule either created automatically or in passing that has blocked it..
Check your firewall setting and then post the results... |

Great job mate, working well so far, PG2 wouldnt boot consistently on my vista pc but this seems to be running smooth. I dont believe it can possibly block all dangerous IP's but anything that can help block a few, even 20% is bloody great. Thanks again mate, fantastic work. |

Well it will get the brunt of them.
The person in-charge of making the lists has been doing it for sometime so I think that you should be pretty sound. |
