Which country do you mean? In a comparison of the 2 medications tylenol appears to be a lot safer, you can click on the links below to see what I mean.

yes i am talking about the USA, its legal but only with a prescription. I mean, look at Perdue pharmicuticals, the makers of oxycontin. They just lost a 700 million US $$$ lawsuit, saying that the drug was safer and less addictive then hydrocodone and oxycodone.

From Tylenol Wiki,---Overdose of acetaminophen is serious and can be fatal from liver toxicity, killing about 1% of those who seek treatment due to the delayed effects. In heavy drinkers, regular use of acetaminophen increases liver damage from alcohol. Acetaminophen can also cause kidney failure in vulnerable patients, including alcoholics, elderly men and those with existing liver or kidney damage

from hydrocodone wiki,
Quote:
The presence of acetaminophen in hydrocodone-containing products deters many drug users from taking excessive amounts. However, some users will get around this by extracting a portion of the acetaminophen using hot/cold water, taking advantage of the water-soluble element of the drug. It is not uncommon for addicts to have liver problems from consuming excessive amounts of acetaminophen over a long period of time; taking 10,000 to 15,000 milligrams (10 to 15 grams) of acetaminophen in a period of 24 hours typically results in severe hepatotoxicity, and doses in the range of 15,000–20,000 milligrams a day have been reported as fatal.[1] It is this factor that leads many addicts to use only single entity opiates such as OxyContin.

Daily consumption of hydrocodone should not exceed 40 milligrams in patients not tolerant to opiates. However, the 2006 PDR (Physicians Desk Reference) clearly states that Norco 10, containing 10 milligrams of hydrocodone and 325 milligrams of APAP (viz., acetaminophen or paracetamol), can be taken at a dosage of up to twelve tablets per day (120 milligrams of hydrocodone). Such high amounts of hydrocodone are only intended for opiate-tolerant patients, and titration to such levels must be monitored very carefully. This restriction is only limited by the fact that twelve tablets, each containing 325 milligrams of APAP, puts the patient right below the 24-hour FDA maximum of 4,000 mg of APAP. Some specially compounded products are routinely given to chronic pain patients in doses of up to 180 mg of hydrocodone per day. Symptoms of hydrocodone overdosage include respiratory depression, extreme somnolence, coma, stupor, cold and/or clammy skin, sometimes bradycardia, and hypotension. A severe overdose may involve circulatory collapse cardiac arrest and/or death.

and look at all the pills in the picture on wiki. Those green pills are worth 8 US $ each[/quote]

as a person that lives in an area where some goon will steal a tuck to drive through a pharmacy wall to get hydros and oxy's... I don't really like it
Hydrocodone is legal in the USA and is a Schedule 2 narcotic..

tylonol barely is regognized on the drug schedule.

15K mg is a f**kin LOT of something to take.. like a huge pile.. whereas hydrocodone can kill you with a lot less and is HIGHLY addictive.

apples to oranges really.

Other schedule 2 narcotics:
Adderall
morphine
oxycodone
cocaine

Edit...
Dunno when the other schedules came out but cocaine is on schedule 8 which is BS because it has current medicinal uses. and i'm not sure if any drug/medication can be on 2 different schedules.

Current pain medications are becoming less and less effective. In my opinion, we should use numbing agents within bandages (similar to the newer 'gecko sticky' bandages) that dull the pain, at least for minor pains. This should be followed by training so that the mind can cope with the pain, and mental training to dull it.

This is my pain management scheme, it works thus far.

Accept the Pain, Love the Pain, Pain is your friend.

I don't think it will ever be an "over the counter" Drug.

i dont think hydrocodone will ever be available OTC... it IS already legal, with a prescription... the reason it wont be available without a prescription is because its addictive

novacaine being correct, but I prefer to use cloves (it's $75 cheaper) and numbs like a dream. If I don't have any on hand, which I normally do, I just do the owie owie dance and lie around for a while. It normally numbs pain for ~2 hours, enough to get over the initial shock and treat with some sort of disinfectant, Soap sucks terribly these days, I use Hot water and tea tree oil. All of the stuff seems all tree-hugger-ish, but it really does work, at least for me.

However, being I don't take many pharmecuticals, i'm rather sensitive to things like aspirin. Yes, that stuff that comes from birch and willow. I use it for things like tooth aches or neck pains. Doesn't work for carpal tunnel as much as it did back in the day...

and no, novacaine and Cocaine are two different things, Caffeine is in the same drug family as cocaine too!
