norton sux i had it many years ago and when it started saying "we have identified a virus, unfortunately Norton cant solve this problem" I ditched it and got avast which sorted the problem straight away WTF is the point in an anti virus programme that can identify a virus but NOT ACTUALLY DEAL WITH IT I mean WTF like seriously WTF??????
Since I been using avast / Spybot S&D and Malwarebytes Ive had no problems and if anything gets by them you can always fall back on hijack this as a last resort, since ive been using the triple combination i havnt had to mess with hijack this which can be a hassle dont know about new versions but when theres freeware which does a fine job whats the point in paying for a subscription? |

You don't really need an antivirus.
You just need a firewall, even an old one will do (like kerio).
And you just have to be careful what you download and install.
Make sure you backup your hard disk (just clone a copy to another one). So if you do get a virus, you just copy the whole hard disk back. |

When I bought my pc back in the summer it came with a trial version Norton Internet Security. It worked ok, didnt have any problems with it. It came with that Site Safety program, where ya can store passwords and log-in details etc, to improve security or some bullshit like that. Was getting tedious after a while and I got bored saving passwords into it. It pops up everytime ya logging in. Trial ended recently, and I'm probably gonna uninstall it and go back to Kaspersky. My question is, what happens to the saved password/log-in details already saved with Site Safety when I delete/uninstall Norton? If anyone knows the answer to this question I'd appreciate it. If I could turn it on for 5mins while I delete all that data that'd be great but I know that aint gonna happen. |

i hated norton and avoided it like a plague infested town....
until fate put me in the position of being a symantec employee (tech support - dont worry, i am not there anymore )
it was truly the strangest job interview i ever had.
it went something like this (it was mid 2008):
they ask:"
do you use a Norton Product?
"
my answer: "to be honest, i dont - the most experience i have is removing norton 2008 in under 10 minutes"(which was a good time)
they ask:"
Ah- but that is about to change, would ou be willing to try the NIS09 program which will be released in a couple of months?
"
i answer:"ok, i guess i can set up a VM for that"
i really wasnt too pushed to work for them due to the horrendous rep they created for themselves until then.
but low and behold, they FINALLY got it right!.
and have been doing it right since then.
it installs quickly , is small, doesnt hamper performance and keeps my system safe.
again, i do NOT work for them anymore, got laid off as redundancy due to economic failure. |

Yes I agree Norton SUCKS. I dl'd the 2006 version and hated it. It took too much control over my system, and installed some sort of malware that kept giving IE popups in Firefox, WTF. I will never use Norton again. To me it looks like Nod 32 is the choice. But it isn't free? |
NOD 32 is the shit. My entire company uses it and we're a computer repair company. |

Yeah trollster but the funny thing is that if Norton went out of business then keylimepie1's company wouldn't have much to repair |
