IRC download guide

I sort of know my way around irc, but I've never used it for downloading yet. I think I'll be able to figure out how to do it, I'm just wondering if the university's firewall will be a problem. I know they've blocked LimeWire and maybe Bittorrent. I don't think this would be a problem, since I can chat on irc, but I'm not sure, could it?
Also, would the university be able to find out about my downloading? We've got a pretty big DC++ hub here, and I think they could go after it, not sure what's keeping them from that, but I'm just wondering if it's easy to track or if the sheer amount of network traffic makes it hard to tell who's illegally downloading. It's a big place here.

hey can anyone tell me is there any other good sites like packetnews.com to find what ever u want because theres just way to many popups there
