You can get round IDE's from most internet wholesalers. Like ebuyer or newegg
Pretty common now. Flat ones are a thing of the past |

You could always use SATA cables with right-angle connectors as long as you didn't need more than a couple of them. Check newegg, they've got quite the variety to choose from for cables or anything else. IDE drives are just a bit too slow for my taste and would use any method necessary to use SATA instead. |

Ive got a really old dell dimension 5000 with:
a 2.8ghz pentium 4 CPU
512mb of ram (i have 2gb in my drawer but i need to save up for a new motherboard before i can use it cos this pc has a weird type of slot)
160gb western digital hdd, half of which has xp and my 55gb of downloaded movies and the other half has ubuntu 7.10 and everything else
upgraded from ATI radeon x300 to nvidia geforce 8600gt 512, which i cant really experience due to the other shortcomings in my system oh well, im saving up for new stuff
17" viewsonic VP730 LCD monitor-best picture ever, just a shame its 17 inches and square. also you can rotate it to portrait which is cool. hooked up over DVI.
pretty good dell speakers it came with
Razer copperhead gaming mouse, for when i finally have a good enough system to play crysis on
the new apple wired keyboard, really nice to type on and works fine with windows
external DVD everything drive. seriously it burns and reads every type of dvd and cd
and last and least my powered 4 port usb hub, which still isnt enough |

Wierd how? There are not that many types of slot, EDO, SDRAM, DDR, DDR2, and soon DDR3, or SODIMM for laptops. Being P4 I would hazzard a guess its either SD or DDR. Neither are especialy unusual, old maybe, but not wierd. Then again, maybe its that practicaly unused RDRAM? |

Also it may have 2 different DIMM slots , a buddy of mine had a store bought P4 damn thing came with 256mb SDRAM (it was an old one about 4yrs) so i was going to upgrade it for him , bought the RAM found out darn MOBO had 2 SD slots and 2 DDR slots so he was stuck with only 2GB not 3 lol also found that putting the SD back in as well only screwed matters up ! |

Does anybody have the Sparkle NVIDIA 8600 GTS 512MB?
I just can't find any reviews for this card. Any information on the performance of this card will be helpful. Thanks. |
