Some changes are underway for accessing isoHunt.com. We are testing alternate DNS servers which we changed over 2 days ago, and we are planning on changing bandwidth providers tomorrow.

So, in relation to certain countries/ISP not able to access isoHunt.com properly, please report whether this changes things for better or for worse. I would like to hear both sides, whether you couldn't access isoHunt before but now you can, and vice versa.

During networking changes, we don't expect any downtime longer than say 10 minutes so no worries Wink

EDIT 5/1/08 07:38 UTC (SecretSquirrel): The network routes seem to have been changed already, with much better routes to much of the world (and lower latency). Please let us know if you have connectivity issues

I just had a downtime for about 20 minutes. It was just to isohunt. Were you just recently trying something or was it just a. . . thing. Nothing to worry about?

our primary router is currently undergoing maintenance, which is why i had to flip us over to the secondary... which took over transparently and is currently routing packets for us... when the primary is back online, it should be another transparent failover

Yah, that's an unrelated change (we went to a dns service provider)

Update: we added a record for www.isohunt.com (previously this was caught by a wildcard)

Why not host it locally using bind9? That way, if it goes down, you don't have to wait for a provider to respond. Just use crontab and a monitor script. If need be, I can give you my bind9 monitor.

Because BIND fails, BIND < TinyDNS. And if you'd look, some of the nameservers are within the cluster, while others are external. Having them all at the same place introduces a SPOF. This isn't mininova Laughing

I did, after I posted that. And BIND9, when set up properly, is far stronger than tinyDNS.
As for the redundancy factor, it's a good idea, but when it comes to a site like this, two nodes simply is simply a bad idea. Three or more is good for stability. It may seem like overkill to some, but then again, odds are they aren't thinking about true redundancy.

Not too mention a completely unrelated thread, I suggest you turn your caps lock off and try again.
